Funny that I caught my tray smiling at me during National Orthodontic Health Month. It made me laugh and brightened my day. Congrats to Brady (not pictured, but his braces are) on completing Phase I of his ortho treatment. Did you ever wonder why we do a Phase I of treatment when the child doesn't even have all of their permanent teeth yet? The American Association of Orthodontics recommends the initial orthodontic evaluation at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no l...ater than age 7. By age 7 the first adult molars erupt, establishing the relationship of the bite, e.g., an overbite. Early treatment can prevent serious problems later. If treatment isn't necessary we would monitor growth until the ideal time for that patient to begin treatment.
