It is common for pregnant women to experience sciatica, a condition characterized by pain in the upper leg area. Sciatica can occur at any point during a normal pregnancy, but is most common during the second and third trimester when the baby is larger and in a lower position in the abdomen.

If part of your spinal column is out of alignment, it's not uncommon to feel shooting pains through your neck, arms or legs. This is a natural response when bone puts too much pressure on one of your nerves - and it's treatable.
