Children won't tell you they can't see well. They won't tell you the words move on the page. They won't tell you why they are a slow reader. They won't tell you that they are working so hard to see the page that there is no energy left to learn what is on the page. Only an eye exam will. Start the school year right. Get an eye exam for your child.

Do you enjoy the convenience and comfort of a daily disposable (DD) contact lens but are concerned about all the potential plastics waste? As eye care providers, we LOVE the health benefits of prescribing a DD lens, and honestly wish we could prescribe them to every contact lens wearer. But we also can't deny that a whopping 91% of plastics are ending up in LANDFILLS Companies like Terracycle and Bausch and Lomb have partnered to reduce our plastics waste by recy...cling everything from the blister packs to our used contact lenses. We are so excited to join them in the pursuit of a cleaner, more sustainable planet Our office will happily accept any blister packs and old contact lenses of ANY BRAND that you accumulate and send them to Terracycle for recycling. For every pound of recyclable material, they will donate $1 towards Optometry Giving Sight . Stay tuned for a special feature on this not-for-profit organization! #plastics #recycling #waste #terracycle #environment #planet #vision #eyes #glasses #optometry #optician #optometrist #eyewear #sight #myopia #health See more

Have you checked your baby’s eyes yet? 1 in 5 preschoolers enter kindergarten with vision problems, and many eye problems arise from conditions that can be identified by an eye doctor in an infant’s first year of life. Because we think it is so important to give all kids an equal opportunity when it comes to their vision, we offer no-cost vision assessments for infants 6-12 months at our office on Tuesdays, regardless of income or insurance coverage. Our own Dr. ...Nakada is a provider of InfantSEE, a program designed to help protect the eyes of infants and ensure that they have the highest quality of sight. #vision #eyes #glasses #optometry #optician #optometrist #eyewear #frames #style #pediatrics #infantsee #children #sight #myopia #infants #health #babies See more

What better way to end your eye exam than instantly finding that new pair of frames that fit you like a glove! Letty helped our little guy here find his 1st pair of glasses. When you know, you know! ... Interesting fact: Roughly 35% of PREschoolers have nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. We are asked a lot by concerned parents about when they should begin bringing their kids in for eye exams. Only optometrists and ophthalmologists have the training and the clinical tools to administer a thorough examination of your child's eyes and vision. The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends infants have their first eye exam within the first six months, followed by an exam at year 3 and then just before entering school. If your child wears glasses, we want to see them back annually. #glasses #optometry #optician #optometrist #eyewear #vision #frames #style #pediatrics #fashion #infantsee #children #sight #myopia See more

Today I learned the kiwi (aka Chinese gooseberry) originated from China and is technically a berry The kiwi is considered a nutrient-dense food, meaning it is high in nutrients and low in calories. One kiwi has almost no fat and roughly 40 calories ... As eyecare professionals, we think the kiwi deserves a spotlight because of its impact on eye health. One cup of kiwi contains double the Vitamin C compared with a single orange. Due to its regenerative properties, high intake of vitamin C and other antioxidants may help prevent the formation of cataracts in older adults. The kiwi also contains carotenoids such as pro-vitamin A beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. Lutein and zeaxanthin are antioxidants also found naturally in the lens and retina, where they help absorb harmful high-energy blue and ultraviolet light. Studies have shown that dietary intake of these may help protect against the development of advanced macular degeneration. #optometry #optometrystudent #nutrition #eyehealth #ophthalmology #fruits #healthydiet #vitamins #eyes #kiwis #calories #cataracts #retina See more

How do you dispose of your contacts and is it hurting the environment? Stop throwing your lenses down the drain! They break down and become part of microplastic pollution that is not filtered out and ends in the ocean. Go to DrCOptometry.com to learn more.
