Dear DCA Families, Over the weekend, DCA suffered an immense water leak resulting in the need to close school for the day. We have dealt with the issue, with the aid of a reputable plumbing service. However, we have decided to close the school for the day to address all concerns and ready the classrooms for instruction. Unfortunately, this situation could stretch into tomorrow. AMPS has no control over these unforeseen events, but wants to ensure everyone is prepared. The safety of our students and staff is paramount. Thank you for supporting safety at our schools. We will continue to disseminate information through robocalls and the school website, to update you.

We love seeing other schools succeed. In May 2017, the Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta graduated its first senior class. In a neighborhood that had a graduation rate of just 30% in 1995, it is remarkable that in 2017 100% of Drew's seniors not only graduated but were accepted to college. #CharterSchools #Education #EdChat #Educhat #SchoolChoice #HigherEd

AMPS Implements E-Waste Program - In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we have partnered up with Civicorp, a fellow charter school based in West Oakland, to implement an e-waste pick-up program at all of our AMPS Oakland schools. This program is funded by CalRecycle. We are looking forward to meeting one of their representatives who will be teaching our staff and students what items are acceptable in e-waste containers, provide literature, and to assess the size of containers needed for each school. An example of acceptable e-waste items are batteries, light bulbs, cables, monitors or screens, fax machines, and cameras. Thank you to Marie Long, our Facilities Manager for helping coordinate this program for our schools!
