The Queens of the Castro invite you to apply for The Grace Towers Scholarship for the Arts. In an effort to recognize and support artistic and professional development in LGBTQI high school students of color, the scholarship awards $1000 for post-secondary opportunities in all disciplines of t...he arts. Who can apply: California high school seniors of color who identify as members of the LGBTQI community and who can demonstrate financial need and strong academic achievement; and who are committed to raising awareness about LGBTQI issues, combating homophobia and bullying, and/or educating their community about similar topics. Why: The Grace Towers Scholarship rewards high school seniors of color who have shown a commitment to the LGBTQI community in their respective high schools and/or community. Mission Statement | Queens of the Castro The Queens of the Castro is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2010 by four drag queens in order to raise awareness about differences in gender and sexuality in high schools and universities. Queens of the Castro works closely with LGBTQ youth to organize and implement drag shows in high schools across the state that bring diverse perspectives of gender and sexuality to student bodies. The Grace Towers Scholarship for the Arts provides LGBTQI high school seniors of color in California financial assistance to pursue post-secondary opportunities in the arts of their choice. To date, we have awarded over $25,000 to students across the state.
