"You do that stick stuff? Too bad you don't carry sticks around with you." If you practice Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) you've probably heard this in some form ...or another. A very common misconception is that FMA includes only the use of sticks. In truth it is only one component of many. Like many FMA systems, Doce Pares is a weapons based system, but the weapons are merely training tools to develop coordination, footwork, balance, reaction time and other complimentary habits that elevate ones empty hands.
