I woke up, super warm under my blankets this am, and checked the surf cans like I always do. They were fully greyed out by fog. No idea what the waves were looking like but my gut was telling me to get out there. . I went outside to grab my wetsuit and crisp California Winter morning air made my fricken buns quiver. ... . I stood for probably 10 straight minutes debating whether I should listen to my rational mind that was basically saying why would you go out in the cold air, to go into the colder water, when you have no idea if there are even waves, you cray bro! Besides, you’ve got a lot of work to do, put that hoodie on and hunker down ya goose! . OR Whether I should listen to my gut and my soul that was basically saying Bro, you been carrying a lot. Wild election, COVID coming back like Fleetwood Mac some major responsibility on the work front, wedding planning anddddd keep ‘Em coming. Some fresh air and water would be a total cold vibe, waves or not. . Despite my mind telling me no, and my bodyyyyy telling me yessss, I listened to my gut and wiggled my way into that damn wetsuit. . Showed up before the sun came up and the fog had cleared. There were peeling lefts, rights, ups and fricken downs @manhattanbeachpier. No one else was out there. I was actually the first and only one. It just was me and some super friendly lefts just waving at each other for the first 20 mins. The ocean just hugging me and scrubbing me. .
