Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Classes for middle-schoolers 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Mondays, September 21, 28 ~ October 5, 19, 26 Zooming from home! ... Is virtual middle school stressing you out? Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens (MBSR-T) classes can help! Learn how to: Identify how you experience stress, both emotionally and physically, and how to dial down those responses. Apply what is learned to de-stress in school, social situations, and at home. Deal with situations such as social media and homework through mindful group discussions. Engage with mindfulness practices that are adapted especially for young people. Cost- $150* *Financial assistance available. After first class, there are no refunds. The health and safety of our clients and staff have always been our highest priority at Discovery Counseling Center. The recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the Bay Area has put our plans to reopen our offices for in-person therapy sessions on pause. We are fortunate that we can continue to provide mental health support with telehealth services. While we are closed, our staff and Board of Directors will continue to discuss and evaluate precautions that our agency can take to ...eventually reopen safely. We will post updates to our website as we get closer to a date of resumption of in-person services. In the meantime, we recommend that everyone continue the recommended practices of wearing a facial mask, maintaining at least 6 feet of social distancing, washing your hands regularly, staying at home as much as possible, and definitely not leaving home if you feel sick. All of our individual efforts will make our community safer. We are stronger together. We are accepting new clients and providing mental wellness services via telehealth. Here's an exciting message from Jenise Falk, President of the Friends of Discovery for The Thrift Station! The Friends of Discovery, the volunteers who operate The Thrift Station, are excited to announce that we will begin accepting donations on Wednesday, June 10th from 11 AM -3 PM. Please bring your donations to the back of the store, located at 486 San Ramon Valley Boulevard in the Crossroads Shopping Center (next to Los Panchos) in Danville. Thank you so much for saving... your donations for us! We will open for shopping on Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 AM. Our new schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM-4 PM. Please note that we will be closed on both Sundays and Mondays. We hope you will enjoy browsing and shopping all our new treasures! Our volunteers' and your health and safety are our highest priority. We are committed to complying with all the best practices for retail operations as directed by the Center for Disease Control and the Contra Costa County Health Department. We will require that all customers and staff wear face masks and practice social distancing. We will disinfect all shopping baskets and provide hand sanitizer throughout the store. We will also limit the number of customers allowed in the shop at one time. Please know that all of our volunteers will receive training in the most recent health and safety protocols.
