Now is not the time to let your guard down, even if you have already been vaccinated. As we work towards the goal of community immunity, we ALL need to continue... to do our part! Ahora no es el momento de bajar la guardia, incluso si ya ha sido vacunad(o/a). Mientras trabajamos hacia la meta de la inmunidad comunitaria, ¡TODOS debemos continuar haciendo nuestra parte!

Heads up--1st week of March, Hwy 29 through St. Helena's Historic Elm Tunnel will go to 1-lane as Caltrans crews will be preforming regular tree maintenance - including removing nine elm trees which are infected with tree rot and Dutch Elm Disease that have become a safety concern. Sad but necessary.

SMS: National Weather Service Issues a Flash Flood Watch The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the afternoon of Tuesday, January 26th through the afternoon of Thursday, January 28th. The Flash Flood Watch is for heavy rainfall that may lead to debris flows and flash flooding in or near recent burn areas. The advisory also cautions that rapid ponding of water in urban areas and areas with poor drainage may occur. Those living or driving through areas ...of steep terrain are cautioned that mudslides or washouts are a possibility. A Flash Flood Watch means conditions may occur. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Residents are urged to visit Flood | Napa County Emergency, CA (readynapacounty.org) for tips on how to prepare for flooding. Napa County officials also urge those living or traveling through areas of steep terrain or flood prone areas of Napa County to remain vigilant, especially overnight. **REMINDER: Do NOT attempt to cross flooded roadways ‘Turn Around, Don’t Drown’!** To reach Napa County’s non-emergency Watershed Protection Hotline between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, call (707) 299-1350.

Have read some chatter on NextDoor about residential property insurance cancellation/non-renewal. This shouldn't happen to you until at least next August if you live in or adjacent to a declared wildfire disaster. Go to http://bit.ly/38Y2Bnt for Insurance Commissioner Lara's November 5th full press release. If you click on the link within the press release re affected zip codes, you'll be taken to the official announcement, which includes this: "For one year from August ...18, 2020, no admitted or non-admitted insurer shall issue a notice of cancellation or nonrenewal, for any policies of residential property insurance due to wildfire risk in the following ZIP Codes..." - and it's almost every zip code in Napa County. Hope this information is helpful to folks... For alternatives and other good information, consider MatchUP Insurance Finder - https://bit.ly/3rRmMMz More insurance reform is needed and work continues on it in Sacramento. The legislature knows that rebuilding cannot occur if there is no opportunity for insurance coverage or it is impossibly expensive.
