Looking at the numbers and stats in out local OC market, I can tell you that it is insane, houses are flying like cupcakes, with the interest rates still considered low buyers are still have leverage over their mortgage. Did you know that each tome rates increase by 0.125% buyers lose 1%-2% of their buying power???... This increase was the result of optimism, lower covid case counts and increased vaccination efforts. As all of this happens, the likelihood of future bailouts decreases and bond investors start to buy. And for anyone who doesn’t remember, pre covid rates were most closely tied to the treasury bond market. As bond rates go up, so go mortgage rates. However, now is not the time to panic as we did see a small decrease in rate pricing at the end of last week, which tells us that banks will do their part to attempt to slow some of the increases by decreasing their margins so buyers aren’t scared off...
