While doormats come in many sizes and shapes, it's important that it fits in size with your door. It goes without saying that both feet have to fit on the doormat, but make sure that it's at least about 3/4 or 80% the width of the doorway where it will be used. ?... The doormat is your home’s first line of defense against all the debris that might come from wet boots and shoes. As well as also being an easy way to instantly make your entryway look organized and pulled together. So, it’s important to consider a mat’s material and size in relation to where it will be used. We break down the essentials to look for here: First and foremost the size of the mat should be proportional to the door. This means the mat should be at least the length of the threshold if not more. Ideally, you want it a little oversized or bigger than the threshold. It makes it a little grandeur and inviting (plus there is room for overlay). Some people love a double mat. This is usually because the "cute" ones are pretty small and don't always fit your entry way door but you still want to use them. I recommend this for seasonal mats that you may have from World Market or HomeGoods. There are so many different kinds of thickness for entry way mats...and there really isn't a specific recommendation for the best thickness either, just as long as it's not too thick. One way to tell if your mat is too thick is if there is a notable step up or you might trip off of the edge. Another thing is...clearance!
