Cool Story...Scroll through the photos. I did the upholstery back in 2010. This was Jay Eitel's last project before he passed a few years later. I believe he was 96. It's a 3/4 scale car modeled after a 37 Ford Coupe. Jay was an inventor, fabricator, engineer and racer. A true gear head. This project was conceived in the 1930's to be a 3/4 scale Auto Union Grand Prix car. The frame was started and then World War II consumed all the aluminum needed for the body. Jay shelved th...e project. through the years Jay would peck at it here and there. Finally it drew most of his attention in the 90's. The power plant is a Super Charged Ford V60 Flathead. A friend of Jays drew up the the 37 coupe concept and Jay went for it. Jay's meticulous attention to detail forced him to road test for hours tuning the electronic ignition and injection perfecting the performance. Notice his seat and safety belt setup...I was able to help him with the final touches by fabricating and upholstering the seats. l designed the foam to function as a bucket seat while looking like a bench seat. Jay had quit the arch in his back, so I installed an inflatable air bag so he could adjust the support. The center section had a divider that was used to assist him in extraction himself from the tight fit of the small chassis. I was fortunate to know Jay for 20 some years. He was one of my heros. Thunder Engines. From the test stand I built to the left wing of the Aero Commander. The test flight show with all the investors was very impressive. The pilot was blown away of the performance. Certifying the Engine became a larger undertaking than Thunder could muster. Some money mismanagement and tax issues forced the sell of the project. We the original players learned and accomplished more in four years than we could have in a normal business after 10 years.

I built this Vette for Robert Meyer. Bob Hohstadt had been Roberts mechanic with his Lola T332. Bob went over to Brooks Racing to look over the Gloy built square and rectangular Mustang turned Thunderbird chassis. So Bob thought that was the way to go (not) I tried to convince him to at least use round tube for the drivers door bars. I built this thing to Bobs ideas though I didn't agree with some of the design. @ California

Thunder Engines. The Paris Air Show Engine Display. The head patterns were not complete so they made plastic ones and I had to make these u-bends tighter for the exhaust. Air brushed the heads an the exhaust. The management got cought with their pants down with every aircraft manufacture wanting drawings, mockups so they could start designing airplanes around the Thunder Engine. Suddenly the market was way bigger than they expected. To this point the program was more about a tax shelter than a much needed product.
