"Last weekend marked our last 777 departure from JFK. We never imagined that could be possible. As we prepared the flight for departure, emotions were charged as workgroups shared their many stories. Many of us stood together waving our final goodbyes until DL8777 left the taxi lane headed to the runway for its final voyage. I’m grateful for the many stories that are greater than the miles flown. The Spirit of Delta was dedicated to Delta employees on March 6, 2008. As a proud Delta employee, I have triple the memories. Farewell to one of my favorite airplanes." - Christopher B. - Operations Service Manager, JFK Retiring a fleet as iconic as the 777 is not an easy decision as we pull the future of our fleet forward. We may be saying goodbye, but the contributions of this aircraft to our past and future will last forever.

"With all the negativity going on in the world and the rough few days the aviation industry has gone through, this random act of kindness made our whole NYC crew smile. Thank you Jennie for brightening our day, being thoughtful and spreading possibility." - Caitlin M. - Flight Attendant, JFK We're not crying, you're crying. Ok... we're all crying.

We know you miss full food and beverage service on board, and trust us, we do too - but your safety comes first. We have engaged Mayo Clinic to enhance and continually improve our health and safety protocols. They came aboard to review service in all cabins and find the balance between minimizing risk and delivering great service. http://dl.aero/6188TAGxC

"In these times of #COVID19, many travelers are concerned for safety. This week, I flew with Delta, not only because I am a loyal SkyMiles Member, but also because I know they have been very proactive about the safety of staff & passengers. Here is a rundown of my travel experience: When I arrived at LGA, the airport was clean, with plenty of hand sanitizer stations & mask supply stations throughout. Lines were socially distant, everyone at LGA had masks on, & all passengers ...on my plane were pleasant & wore masks. The seats were not at full capacity to allow space between each passenger, & boarding started with the back of the plane first to prevent congestion & promote social distancing. When I boarded, the Flight Attendant handed me a sani-wipe that I used to wipe down my armrest & TV screen/tray table/etc. Food and drink service has been adjusted to avoid any re-purposed items (cups, etc). The airline staff wore fresh gloves & handed out pre-wrapped packages of snacks, a bottled water, & a one time use packet of hand sanitizer. The only time anyone removed their mask on the flight was to eat/drink. As for the cabin air, all Delta aircraft are ventilated with fresh, outside air & any air that is recirculated passes through high-grade HEPA filters, which extract more than 99.99% of particles, including viruses - such as coronavirus. Delta has increased its regular cleaning program while adding a sanitizing process often used in healthcare settings to disinfect aircraft interiors. After each flight, crews use electrostatic sprayers to sanitize aircraft interiors from floor to ceiling w/ a high-grade disinfectant. Cleaning crews then perform extensive manual cleaning procedures to wipe down cabin surfaces: seats, consoles, seat-back screens, windows, doors, lavatories. I FELT VERY SAFE!!" - Katie D., Nurse Practitioner and Platinum Medallion Member We want you to feel safe when flying with us, so we've done everything we can to create an environment to help you feel confident throughout your entire travel experience.

Wondering how safe it is to fly right now? Safer than going to a grocery store or restaurant, according to a new study from Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

"I was so nervous to fly with my almost 1-year-old. I had reached out to friends for advice, and Pinterest had tips, but what I was not prepared for was the outpouring of help from the Delta staff. Bri (a Delta Flight Attendant) met me at my aisle as I boarded the plane, and immediately offered to hold my daughter for me while I got my bag situated. My daughter did well for the first hour of the flight, then began to fight sleep. The Flight Attendants allowed me to hang out i...n the back with them so that I could hold her, rock her, and do anything I could to finally get her to sleep. When it came time to change her diaper, Bri showed me the way to the correct bathroom with the changing table in place. We ended up on board for some extra time upon landing, and Bri saw the both of us having a very hard time and approached me. She held out her arms and said May I? Bri walked her up and down both aisles of the plane. She has just learned to wave, so Bri was holding her and waving to all the passengers along the way. I seriously was more thankful than I can truly express. She saved me from completely breaking down, and probably several others from becoming even more frustrated with the delay. Not only did she do this for me, but she looked up my connecting flight on her phone and confirmed that I had time to make my flight. I will forever fly with Delta and can’t wait to show this video to my daughter when she is older." - Caitlin C., Delta customer No matter where your journey is taking you, it's good to remember we're all just people trying to get from point A to point B. Thanks, Bri, for reminding us to show kindness along the way.

Two years ago, Karee and Rodney were flying home from China with their newly adopted daughter, Bella. They didn’t speak Mandarin. Bella didn’t speak English, but Flight Attendant Jackie (AKA Grandma Jackie) spoke both. "We’d had Bella with us for not quite two weeks and she was being so, so brave. But about halfway through the flight, something triggered our brave girl, and she had a full-on panic attack like nothing we had seen before. Uncontrollable, terror in her eyes, all... the uncertainty at that moment kind of screaming. She cried. I cried. It was awful. Grandma Jackie came by several times and stayed with us as much as she could. Eventually, Grandma J’s sweet, soothing voice won her over and Bella let her hold her several times. She offered to walk Bella around the plane to distract her for as long as she could. I think she deserves all the love for being such a precious, caring person and going above and beyond 'just doing her job.' We exchanged contact info and have kept in touch, so this year, Bella invited Grandma Jackie to come to her birthday in September. Imagine our surprise when Grandma Jackie called to say not only was she coming up for Bella's birthday, but she was going to bring all the things to make homemade dumplings so that Bella could have real Chinese food for her birthday! We had a fantastic day together, and we feel like we've made new friends for life. All because Grandma Jackie was on that flight and knew we needed someone just like her that day." The people you meet while traveling are often just as special as the destination. We’re thankful for employees like Jackie that go the extra mile to make some of the most difficult times a little easier.
