Dear DLA Family, Today we learned of terrible news concerning our DLA scholar Ayden. He is in liver failure and needs a liver transplant. This can take anywhere between 1-3 years to get a donor. From what we understand, he will need to remain hospitalized until the liver transplant. The family is deciding this evening as to whether or not Mindy will move with him to either Children's in LA or up to Stanford for further care and attention until the transplant. DLA foundation weekly update Thank you to everyone who supported this years raffle and dining nite at Mike's BBQ. It was great to see so many people come out and support Del Lago Academy and Scholars. Together we raised over $2000 to support our scholars. Thank you for supporting our scholars!! It is hard to believe it is already May first. The school year has just flown by, but there are still lots of Del Lago Academy activities happening even as the year is drawing to a cl...ose. Many scholars are finishing up projects, getting ready for AP tests and finals, or getting ready for graduation. We know it is a busy time of year for everyone and Del Lago is no exception. Here are a few upcoming activities and events: Jamba Juice Fundraiser: May 2 - 13, 2016 This fundraiser has been designed to help athletic teams, x-block, club or drama raise some additional funds for their programs. Help Needed for Teacher Appreciation Week Hi Parents and Scholars, ... Teacher appreciation week is coming up and we need your help. On Friday, May 13th we will be holding the 3rd Annual Giving Tree. The Giving Tree allows us the opportunity to give our DLA Teachers and Staff a big THANK YOU for all their support for our scholars this year. We have a "tree" (or another fun way) that allows teachers to pick out $10.00 gift cards to a variety of places and locations they love. Our goal is to get 165 cards so that every person receives 3 cards. How You Can Help We need $10.00 gift cards to a variety of places. If you are having dinner at a restaurant, you can pick up a gift card. If you are shopping at Target, Home Depot, or Staples, you can pick up a gift card. Gift cards from any stores or restaurants would be appreciated. Our goal is to have 165 cards so each member receives 3 cards. If everyone who reads this email would donate one $10.00 gift card, we would be at 165 in no time. Turn in Your Gift Cards in now at the Foundation mailbox by the Receptionist If you don't plan on shopping soon but would like to donate the money, we can purchase the gift cards to nearby locations. The everyday shopping program has specials this month on $10.00 gift cards that are not normally available. We can just order cards from that program and will also receive a percentage back on the order. Below you will find a link for a special Teacher Appreciation Order Form. Simply fill out and attach a check. You can drop it off in the Foundation mailbox in the front office. We will do the rest for you!
