Another HOME closed escrow today!!!! This one is so special to me for so many reasons! The Caiola Family has been like family with the Rivetti’s for more than 60 years! My dad was their paper boy and he introduced both families when he noticed that they spoke Italian too!!!! Through the years the families became inseparable. Eating pasta dinners together, stopping by each others houses often and sharing anniversary’s, birthdays, weddings and holidays and other special days... together. Unfortunately, the kindest man and patriarch of the family Peter Caiola passed away earlier this year. I was honored to have been able to sell this house for the family today. The best part is that we were able to keep this very special HOME in the family. Tony Caiola, the youngest of the siblings, bought the family home and will create more memories there through the years!!! I really love what I get to do every day. Definitely worth the read... Perspective: WE ARE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT ...... I heard that we are all in the same boat, but it's not like that. We are in the same storm, but not in the same boat. Your ship could be shipwrecked and mine might not be. Or vice versa. For some, quarantine is optimal. A moment of reflection, of re-connection, easy in flip flops, with a cocktail or coffee. For others, this is a desperate financial & family crisis. For some that live alone they're facing endless loneliness. While for others it is peace, rest & time with their mother, father, sons & daughters. With the $600 weekly increase in unemployment some are bringing in more money to their households than they were working. Others are working more hours for less money due to pay cuts or loss in sales. Some families of 4 just received $3400 from the stimulus while other families of 4 saw $0. Some were concerned about getting a certain candy for Easter while others were concerned if there would be enough bread, milk and eggs for the weekend. Some want to go back to work because they don't qualify for unemployment and are running out of money. Others want to kill those who break the quarantine. Some are home spending 2-3 hours/day helping their child with online schooling while others are spending 2-3 hours/day to educate their children on top of a 10-12 hour workday. Some have experienced the near death of the virus, some have already lost someone from it and some are not sure if their loved ones are going to make it. Others don't believe this is a big deal. Some have faith in God and expect miracles during this 2020. Others say the worst is yet to come. So, friends, we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs are completely different. Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, actually seeing. We are all on different ships during this storm experiencing a very different journey. GM said hold our cars watch this, we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Restaurants said mmmm, we got kitchens and staff we can feed kids. We have teachers and schools figuring out how to connect and teach our kids. NBA basketball players said, hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff. Construction companies said here some masks for the medical staff and doctors. You got two Democrat Governors getting told we will make it happen by a Republican President who has fought with them for three and half years. Yeah we are a nation divided. We are a bunch of woosies who cant live with out baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach or a bar. I think a Japanese admiral in the middle of the Pacific said it best in 1941, "I think we have awakened a sleeping giant." What Corona Virus didn't count on was America saying "Hey hold my beer and watch this." PLUS: We get to spend time with our family. Which is priceless. Give us two weeks and we will be more than ok. We will be stronger than ever! Like I have seen in any catastrophic event I have witnessed.(The Northridge Earthquake and 9/11.) We have wonderful country! I know we will be ok.
