EXTENDED THROUGH DEC. 14! PLEASE SHARE! Paratransit has created a new means to help spread cheer during this holiday season. Riding for Tidings is collecting it...ems that will bring warmth and coziness right into the homes of local seniors who may be experiencing feelings of isolation and confinement during the pandemic. Through December 14, we are collecting donation items to deliver special care packages to area seniors in December. You can visit donate.paratransit.org to view an Amazon.com Wish List of needed items and select the Riding For Tidings’ Gift Registry Address during checkout to have your contribution drop-shipped to our Sacramento office.

A perfect analogy that puts things into perspective, and may be enlightening.

Hi there! This is my 16 year old autistic son. He plans on once again being a Hot Dog for Halloween. (With the addition of a mask, of course.) Anyway, I’m prett...y sure you might do a double take when you see him or anyone you think is too old for trick or treating. Guess what? He’s not. They’re not. Halloween is one day in the year and to a teenager like my son, it’s an exciting event he’s been looking forward to very much. Let’s face it, we haven’t had too many of them this year. So when you see a nearly 6 foot hot dog happy flappy on your doorstep, don’t be a jerk and refuse to give a treat or judge us for letting him still do this. It’s one day. You don’t need to be stingy with your Snickers. (via Autism with a side of fries by Eileen "Mama Fry" Shaklee)

We made our family Christmas cake today so that it can mature nicely before the festive period. It's been a tradition of ours since their first Christmas and every year they can do more and more without our support. This year's progress? Egg cracking

Just because an autistic person doesn't display certain stereotypical symptoms of autism doesn't mean they're not autistic. In the past you would have to displa...y every single symptom of autism to be diagnosed as autistic, but that method was thrown out because of how incorrect it was. Not every autistic acts like the caricature of autism that you have in your head. #AutieBiographical #ActuallyAutistic #SliceOfLife
