Individual Health Plan Update: I’ve learned that as of 1/1/2019, the tax payers of CA will be paying the entire bill of all the subsidies or tax credits for everyone in the state who is receiving help to pay health insurance premiums. The Federal Gov is out of the subsidy/tax credit business as of 12/31/2019. Also the Federal penalties for not having health insurance that went away as of 1/1/2019, are returning under CA State laws passed by the Dem controlled state legislat...ure and signed by the governor! They begin again under CA State law 1/1/2020 and will be at least equal to the 2018 Federal penalty amounts. Finally, the eligibility for what is now going to be a CA subsidy/tax credit is being extended to even more people as of 1/1/2020, to those within 600% of the poverty level.
