The goal is not only to look good, but to live a long and healthy life. Today marks one year ago since I started at DFF here in Rio vista! All I remember when I started was that I didn’t feel like myself, I wasn’t proud of myself, and I needed to do something competitive/physical to bring me some kind of peace of mind. I believe my starting weight was around 182 and my body fat was at 34% which was the heaviest I’ve ever been especially because I’ve played sports always and been active on my own. I was a little apprehensive because I don’t like ...being told what to do (Darrien does that a lot) and I also don’t like being told what to eat ,but obviously I needed both of these things to get me into shape. Today I weigh around 163 and my body fat is right around 28-29% depending on how good I am! I’m actually shocked at how I have lost almost 20 pounds because I didn’t even pay much mind to that during this year. I am PROUD of myself because I put all I have during the workout, all while keeping my lovely sarcastic sense of humor the whole time, I really changed the way I eat (realizing I don’t like to feel gross), and I really see changes in my muscle tone and how my clothes fit! I feel strong and like I can kick ass! I’m most proud that I stayed true to myself and my way of doing the whole process no matter how much Darrien wanted to yell at me or punch me hahah! But thank you @dffbootcamp couldn’t have done it without you! & of course there’s still more progress to be made for my big day! The reality is most people don’t stick to their fitness goals for a couple months let alone an entire year! They are rare breeds. Everyday I try and create an environment and culture that’s makes people feel excited to workout, comfortable to be their own unique selves regardless of age, race, political or religious beliefs. Ladies, do you find it intimidating to lift weights? You see someone do a workout on instagram but there is no explanation of the details that make it effective. Not to mention it’s definitely intimidating working out around a bunch of grunting guys when you aren’t even sure if you’re doing the exercise correctly... I totally get it. Did some stats recently and realized over the last 7 years i’ve only had 4 male clients I never like to categorize myself as a women’s only trainer. But it seems that is a proper title at this point. When I first started training I remember a mentor of mine said that women usually don’t feel comfortable with a male trainer, which makes sense since there are a lot of scumbags in my industry that do this profession for the wrong reasons. Almost 7 years in the game and I’m s...till the Go-To person for women looking to get fit. The problem is a lot of trainers think women need to train differently than men. Training isn’t based on your gender. Men & Women need to train similar. Treating women like they are brittle and can’t handle a tough squat or heavy shoulder press and should stick to using 5lb weights and never break a sweat is NOT how you do it. Do you do 1-on-1 Personal Training? I get this question a lot so I put together this chart to make it easy for you to see WHY I always recommend people to do bootcamp. Let’s give you a scenario and say your budget is $200/month and you want a trainer... Personal Training is on average $50/hour which would buy you 4 sessions with a trainer. Now to be smart and conserve your sessions you don’t use them all in the same week Instead, You do once a week. 1 session a week with a trainer for $200 What about the other 6 days of the week? You are supposed to do the same workout unsupervised and wait until next week to see them again? You NEED to be seeing your trainer more frequently! Who do you think sees more progress? The person who sees their trainer 1 day a week or the person who sees their trainer 4 days a week? it’s a no brainer. Here’s the problem. If you tried to do 1-on-1 personal training 4 days a week that comes out to $800 a month If you are rich that won’t seem like much... But for you and I that’s a lot of money. THATS WHY I CREATED DFF BOOTCAMP That same $200 that only got you 4 sessions now gets you 18+ sessions! Which allows you to see your trainer 4 days a week without costing you anything extra.
