Tutu Tuesday! If you give a girl a tutu, she will want ballet shoes to go with it. You’ll buy her the best leotard you can find, and then she will want tap shoes, tights and dance shorts too. Then, she will probably spend hours begging you to watch her dance, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. She will insist. And her insistence will win. And when a girl gets a tutu, she will need warm-ups and leotards and a mat to tumble on... And a TEAM..... And then life as you know it will never be the same. There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling costumes and bags. Cleaning dirty tights and driving crazy dancers to the studio and back for hours to practice for competition. THE COMPETITION! (And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a girl a tutu. ) Her weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun and getting a little stronger. So strong in fact you may have a hard time recognizing your little girl anymore. And you will be there the day she hits her mark, and the first time she competes, and the first time she finally lands her aerial. And she will make you SO proud. The other moms will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you in the air or on the ground. It's all her. She did this! And right before your eyes, your little girl will be transformed from the baby who played with dolls, into a dancer who plays hard and works even harder. And she will still love your attention! When you give a girl a tutu, you give her more than just a skirt. You give her a sport, a skill, a talent, hopes, dreams, friends, and a bigger family. A place to learn about life, room to grow as a person, she now enjoys pushing her limits. Bravery, courage, LIFE, and memories. And she will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a girl a tutu. And because you gave a girl a tutu, you, too, will develop new friendships, developed solely from the same passion and love of your team. You will root together, you will hold your breath together. For 2 minutes where your girl shines in a new light you’ve never seen before, all because you gave a girl a tutu. Note from the girl in this tutu: Katie wants to make sure EVERYBODY knows that boys dance, too! And can have tutus, too, and ballet shoes, and everything else. Because although this story is from other moms, and shared by me, Katie's mom, it is for all dance parents everywhere.

So sad to have lost Ann Reinking at age 71. RIP

All classes eligible to bring a friend and be entered to win our Dance Attack bear have been sent an email with a form or link to fill out in order to bring a friend to their dance class. If your friend enrolls during the same week, you earn a $50 to your credit!
