Hi DS Family! If you purchased a costume intended for last year‘s June shows, please have your child bring it into class this week to try it on. We are trying to utilize last year‘s costumes for this year‘s June shows. We will do our best to utilize them, however in some cases it will not be possible. Please read your show info packet in your email for details. Younger students will need one parent to accompany them to the bathroom to help them change in and out of their costume. Please do not lose any of the small pieces and accessories that come with the costumes. Also, please do not forget to wear your mask. Thank you.

We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity for our students to perform! The Show Info Packet for Keep on Dancing! is attached to the email sent on Monday Feb. 15th. Participation Response Forms are due by Saturday Feb. 20th (or by your next class next week) indicating whether you are or are not participating. Costume Try-On Week is next week Feb. 22-27 (for those who purchased costumes for last year’s shows). We will do our best to utilize the costumes from last year, however, some classes will need to purchase different costumes. We appreciate your understanding as the Covid situation made it impossible to have our shows last year. If you are new, we will try to locate a costume for you. Please see the email for details. We are soooo excited and happy to announce that DS will return to on-site classes on Monday October 12th with Covid-19 protocols in place! We will also offer our students the ability to take classes from our on-site class schedule on Zoom. Congratulations Gracie B. for winning 2nd place for American Academy of Ballet’s My Favorite Variation Competition in which she submitted a video of herself performing the tamborine variation from La Esmeralda. She and Mrs. Pearl prepared it for our SDE competition season that was cancelled due to Covid-19 and we look forward to seeing her compete with it when we resume our dance season at the studio. Gracie was awarded 50% off the American Academy of Ballet’s Online Summer Intensive which she attended last week. In addition, this dedicated and versatile student attended Inland Pacific Ballet’s Online Summer Intensive as well as Break the Floor Production’s Online Summer Intensive both in July. Congratulations to Kahlan D. and Savannah D. for being selected by video audition out of thousands of applicants from around the U.S.to perform with the Great American Marching Band at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! This would have been Kaelan’s second time and Savannah’s first time dancing in this world famous parade event in NYC! Due to the pandemic however, performers are able to participate next year in 2021. We are sooo proud of these two amazing dancers for achieving this honor and we will be sure to tune in next year to watch them on T.V.! #cantstopdancingds #dsdancersrock

The award for OUTSTANDING DEDICATION and DEVOTION to dance goes to Allie S.! Look at this girl taking classes with us on Zoom while on vacation! Today her mom texted me letting me know that they are at Yellowstone and are heading straight home to Beaumont so Allie might be a little late to Tap tonight!!! Congratulations to DS Alumni, Julia Ward, who was accepted by audition into the B.F.A. program of the Department of Dance at UNLV! Students desiring an even more rigorous dance education are selected by audition out of the students who were already selected by audition into the popular B.A. dance program. Some students are not accepted into this program in their freshman year and some never are accepted due to the selective nature of this upper level degree. Students must demonstrate exceptional talent and potential and artistry! We’re so proud of you Julia! If you haven’t heard, Dance Spectrum will begin a dedicated schedule of Zoom Classes on Monday August 17th and will not be able to hold on-site classes at this time. Every preparation, precaution, and effort has been made with the hopes of re-opening for on-site classes safely, however we will be dis-dancing on Zoom instead at this time.
