D-mand A School for the Arts

Thank you all for your support. We will be meeting with our board soon to decide our next step. We have 3 options: 1) appeal our denial to San Joaquin County Office of Ed, 2) re-file with Lodi Unified, 3) file with another district. Any thoughts you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Well, we were denied by the Lodi Unified School District tonight, bu a vote of 4 against, 1 for and 2 abstentions. We have fought the good fight, but apparently have come up wanting. Thank you for your support of our endeavor to open this school for the visual and performing arts. We don't know what our next steps will be. When we make that determination, we'll let you know. I know this is a difficult request, but seems the only way we will be able to convince the board real support exists for this school. This is our last chance. The meeting is at 7pm at the LUSD office, 1305 E Vine Street. That's east of the 99 freeway near Kettleman Lane.... Thank you for considering this. Have a great day and God speed! Rick Brewer

I am asking you to come back to the LUSD board on Tuesday, February 1 - yes, that's this Tuesday, two days from now - and once again show your support for our school. However, this time, I will ask you to step up to the microphone, quickly state your name and say the following six words: "I want this school to happen." Just think how impressive it would be if a line of 50 people came and did just that.

That may be bad enough, but the worst violation of our trust is the statement that at the November 16, 2010, open meeting of the board, we did not show ample proof of community support for this school. That was the meeting many of you attended, and stood in support for our school. While we deeply appreciate it, LUSD administrators discounted that show of support, which is astounding to say the least.
