The AKC has posted a legislative alert for a bill that is currently in the US Senate. This bill would create new mandates for breeders and is especially concerning because to a non-expert, it all sounds great. Animal rights activists have been pressuring lawmakers to back the bill and it has been gaining quite a lot of traction. The AKC is urging its community to contact our leaders to express our concern and disagreement with the proposed legislation. Please click the link below to read more about it and to find out what you can do to help. https://www.akc.org//us-congress-problematic-breeder-mand/

County-Wide DTC has, regretfully, decided to cancel our September 2020 Obedience and Rally events after holding our board meeting last Thursday, July 23rd. The venue, Rohnert Park Community Center, is unable to commit to their grounds being available for this event given current COVID-19 restrictions and projections. Without the assurance of a place to hold the Obedience and Rally Trials, County-Wide DTC felt it was prudent to cancel for this year. County-Wide DTC looks forward to holding their events next year when the situation has improved.

July 13 COVID UPDATE : County-Wide has received several inquiries regarding the latest change to the Covid-19 restrictions in Sonoma County. The closings instigated this week affected gyms, inside dining for restaurants, Theaters, bowling allies, etc. Retail and grocery stores were not affected. When we re-started classes it was based on the rules for retail stores. ... We will be continuing our classes based on the current rules with small groups, social distancing and use of facial masks. Our classes will be held as scheduled. Our club will continue to monitor the COVID restrictions as they change.

All classes that were in progress at the time of the COVID shutdown have been restarted. All classes that had been scheduled to start and had paid registrations have been rescheduled along with contact to those paid registrants to be sure the new start time works. If you were in one of those two categories and were not contacted please contact the club. We don't want you to slip through the cracks. Many of the posted classes on our schedule were instantly filled with peop...le that were previously registered (as described above). New classes that have openings for Rally I & II, Beginning, Puppy, Advanced, and Intermediate have been posted on the website. Please check out the schedule to see what is open and available. At this time we will not be offering any drop in classes. Conformation classes involve closer contact between Instructor and student as the instructor exams the dog. We will be waiting for social distancing to be less necessary before resuming that class. All drop in classes are problematic since we need to keep our student number in the building to 6 to allow for appropriate distancing between students. The club greatly appreciates your patience and support as have worked to resume our classes.

I am posting an e-mail sent out to all County-Wide members on June 14th regarding start up of classes. In the meantime please be patient and understanding..... Dear Member, County-Wide DTC hopes that you are staying well and healthy during this challenging time. ... With the recent changes in COVID restrictions required by Sonoma County, County-Wide DTC has been in the process of resuming classes. We first reached out to all students that were in a class that was paused back in March. Those classes have now been restarted or are scheduled to be restarted. The second phase of our restart is to reach out to students that were registered for a class that had not started and had to be postponed. I am currently reaching out class by class to those students with the new start date for the class they are registered for. I have about 8 classes in this category so please be patient as I work my way through them. I anticipate this taking the better part of next week and possibly into the following week. The third phase of the restart will be to adjust the scheduling for the remainder of the year as it was affected by the cancellations and postponements. We have established Safety Protocols for dealing with the COVID virus. I am attaching them to this e-mail. Part of our safety protocols is limiting the number of students per class to allow for social distancing. Because it is impossible to do that with drop in classes, we will not be having any drop in classes until County Restrictions and the virus situation allow us more flexibility. We don't want someone driving an hour to a drop in class only to find that it is already filled to capacity. Conformation in particular, is a class that requires the instructor to be in close contact with the owner as the dog is examined so that will be one of the last classes to restart. We look forward to seeing you, our clients, students and friends back at class as we carefully resume our training schedule. Sincerely, Linda Hause CWDTC Training Director and President Protocols for Class With COVID 19.pdf

JUNE 9, 2020 COVID UPDATE: County-Wide Dog Training Club is gradually restarting classes following State and County guidelines. We are in the process of resuming classes that were postponed and will then revise our schedule for upcoming classes. Because of the need to limit the number of people in our building for each class we are unable to offer Drop-in classes at this time. We appreciate your patience as we all work through this challenging time. Go to our website at CWDTC .org to see our COVID PROTOCOLS FOR CLASS
