Castro Valley Pride 25.03.2021

The BASS Church Workers Convention's keynote speaker Dr. H.B. Charles supports the ‘Nashville Statement’ which notes that it is sinful to approve of homosexual immorality or transgenderism and that such approval constitutes an essential departure from Christian faithfulness and witness. So, according to them (and him) you can’t be a Christian and have LGBTQ friends. It says so right there. It goes on to state that WE DENY that the approval of homosexual immorality or trans...genderism is a matter of moral indifference about which otherwise faithful Christians should agree to disagree. In other words, the gays are immoral and there is no other view but their view on that. We are tired of being told that our relationships, our families and our very lives are immoral. We are tired of those faith leaders who continue to promote that lie. Why did Redwood Chapel choose this man to speak? For the answer to that question you would need to reach out to Jeff Miller at [email protected] or Doug Tegner at [email protected]. They no longer respond to me. See more

Congratulations to President Joe Biden. He has much work to do, not the least of which is fulfilling his promises to us. https://www.nbcnews.com//biden-vows-pass-lgbtq-rights-legi

Congratulations and thank you to Vice President Kamala Harris for breaking more barriers today. Those of us who were involved in the fight for marriage equality surrounding Proposition 8 recall seeing her often in SF City Hall. She was either filling us in on the work being done or marrying couples when it finally became legal.

ANOTHER ONE MORE THING! In 2020 we provided somewhere around 500 of these posters to area residents for free. I think that Aran's Art Studio and One Bad Apple music still has a supply of them but you can also grab one from the porch at 19554 Jaydine St. HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM CASTRO VALLEY PRIDE!

ONE MORE THNG: We sent Christmas gifts of a rainbow flag and a book by David Gushee to some local Evangelical churches. David Gushee is a prominent Evangelical ethicist, so Evangelical Christians pay attention to what he says. When his sister came out to him he had to rethink where he stood on LGBTQ issues. He changed his mind, and then he wrote a book (Changing Our Mind) about it. We sent that book and a flag to Redwood Christian, Castro Valley First Baptist, Castro Valley U...nited Methodist, Indelible Grace Church (uses Marshall school) and Gateway Bible Church (uses Creekside). We included a nice holiday letter and we received exactly zero responses. We did not send the book to Danny Strange at 3 Crosses because he had already read this book and several others. We believe that 3Crosses is trying hard to be a better friend to the LGBTQ community. http://www.davidpgushee.com/

HELLO CASTRO VALLEY PRIDE COMMUNITY! Our apologies for the long silence, but it’s hard to put into words what a terrible year this has been. But it’s over and we are looking forward to brighter days ahead, particularly in the White House. We hope you, your friends and your families are all doing well. Here’s a recap of what we (and you) did in 2020 so let’s celebrate that! THE GOOD:... We handed out hundreds of rainbow flags to people and businesses at our Free Rainbow Flag Event in June We worked with CVUSD to fly the rainbow flag on ALL schools for the month of June We asked Alameda County Fire Department to celebrate Pride Month. They changed their online logo to a rainbow themed logo for June! We donated our audio system and time to a couple of local youth-led Black Lives Matter rallies We assisted Joanne Lauer at her Black Lives Matter lawn sign handout event We helped Bad Business Model Bikes at their fundraiser for AIDS/LifeCycle. Together we raised $9,000 to assist those living with HIV and AIDS. THE BAD: No giant rainbow flag entry in the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade No glittering rainbow float in the Parade of Lights No Pride event at all No info booth at the Fall Festival We don't know yet what 2021 holds for us and our events, but we are hopeful we'll get to see you all in person soon. Stay safe, wear a mask, get vaccinated and fly those rainbow flags!
