What a great way to start our last week of the #subarulovespets virtual adoption event. These puppies have finally been cleared for adoption so hurry and get your application in today www.cvacf.org. These cuties came here on a Wings of Rescue flight to evacuate Louisiana shelters in preparation of Hurricane Delta. They are all a bit shy, and really need homes that are ready to show them lots of love. #franksubaru #subarulovespets #aspca

We love to get pictures from our adopters showing their furry family members enjoying their new homes! "Just wanted to say thank you - the girls are perfect! We named them Feta (the little black one) and Gouda (the Tortie). I am shocked at how friendly and outgoing Feta is and while Gouda is a little more reserved, she is SO playful. They’ve been great additions here. They have their first vet check up on November 7, met a new foster dog we have and did fantastic, and we’re really happy they’re part of our family. Thank you again!" You're welcome :)

It's election time, be sure to have your vote counted! Our election is all warm and fuzzy, and will determine which pets will end up in our 2021 calendar. We received so many cute photos of your pets and had a difficult time narrowing it down. You are welcome to comment on your favorites here, but be sure to go to: https://www.chulavistaca.gov//ani/2021-acf-calendar-voting by Oct. 31st to formally cast your vote. #cvacfcalendar

This week has been designated National Veterinary Technician Week to celebrate, recognize, and promote the valuable contributions credentialed veterinary technicians make to the veterinary profession and society. Veterinary technicians are integral players on the veterinary team. They work tirelessly in exam rooms, labs, and operating rooms, putting vast technical and scientific knowledge to work treating and caring for every species of animal. At the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility they are on the frontlines, compassionately working with animals in need. Thank you Vet Techs for your compassionate care day after day!

Did you know the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility sees all kinds of animals? Last week we got in a stray Chameleon and Iguana. Both have injuries so our medical team has to be aware how to treat many species.

Sunshine is a super social, tolerant dog who is soft and engaged. Walks decently on leash. Rubs her body on your legs and thoroughly enjoys pets and massages. Showed no interest in toys or food. Treat motivated. Needs an interactive structured household looking for a devoted companion. Read more about Sunshine at www.cvacf.org!

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, which means it’s the perfect opportunity to help homeless animals in shelters all across America find loving, happy homes! We were excited to be on KUSI News this morning talking about our month long virtual 2020 ASPCA & Subaru loves pets event. #subarulovespets #aspca ASPCA has chipped in to reduce the adoption fee for the next 20 adult dogs to encourage their adoption. And Frank Subaru will contribute $100 per pet adoption this month to support the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. We hope you will consider adopting a shelter pet next time you begin looking for a new addition to your family. #adoptashelterdog #ASPCA #FrankSubaru #subarusaturdays #SubaruLovesPets #KUSINews

Today is Mental Health Awareness day, and sharing your life and even your struggles with a pet can help greatly. 1. Pets can get you outside, especially dogs. Sunlight elevates your mood and provides your body with much needed Vitamin D. 2. Pets can get you moving. We all know exercise is great for your body, but it's important for your brain too! 3. Pets help reduce stress. Rythmic petting can be comforting to both you and your pet. It also helps lower cortisol levels ...while increasing oxytocin. 4. Pets are great listeners when you just need someone to talk to. 5. They can help you smile! Smiling and laughing are helpful when dealing with stress, depression and anxiety by raising serotonin and dopamine in your brain. 6. Pets also give us purpose. They provide us someone to love, care for and count on to be with us. They remind us that we are loved and needed. Consider bringing a pet into your life to help you. www.cvacf.org #adoptdontshop #mentalhealthawarenessday See more

Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is proud to help alongside other local animal welfare organizations in today’s Wings of Rescue evacuation of 90 dogs from Louisiana. The Humane Society of the United States, Wings of Rescue, Greatergood.org, and iHeartDogs.com made this flight possible to help relocate dogs already in Louisiana shelters so that they can make room for anticipated need from Hurricane Delta this weekend. Shelters helping take in the dogs include: San Diego Humane Society, County of San Diego, Rancho Coastal Humane Society, Chula Vista Animal Care Facility and Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue. Many of these animals need medical treatment and clearance before they can be adopted out. Feel free to check out these organizations and apply online for when dogs may be available for adoption. #rescuedogs
