March is Women’s History Month and we want to take a minute to thank the amazing women of our past. Today we recognize Wangari Maathai, 1940 - 2011: Wangari Maathai was a Kenyan environmental activist who founded the Green Belt Movement which campaigned for the planting of trees, environmental conversation, and women’s rights. The first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a doctorate degree, Maathai was elected to parliament and appointed assistant minister for Environme...nt and Natural Resources from 2003 2005. Her work was internationally recognized when, in 2004, she became the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to sustainable development, peace, and democracy.* Do you know a woman who inspires those around her? Tag her in the comments below so we can say Thank You for making a difference! #CurvesStrong #InspiringWomen #WhoRunsTheWorld * https://www.historyextra.com/100-women/100-women-results/
