Cuesta College Police Department 26.03.2021

*Tires screeching Hold up! That’s a great day of training. Here you’ll find Interim-Chief/Sergeant Hopkins, Officer Herson and Officer George getting behind the wheel trying to hit the apex of their turns. Today, Cuesta’s finest continued our POST bi-annual training at Allan Hancock College Emergency Vehicle Operations Training. The training consisted of everything from slow speed maneuvering, parallel parking, driving through tight areas, cornering course and a skid car to mimic under steer and oversteering issues. We thank the instructors for their guidance and professionalism. *Please note the area of training is on a closed track and we do not condone speeding, failing to stop at stop signs or any other vehicle code violation.

Cuesta College Police Department 05.03.2021

From the desk of Chief Bryan Millard: I write this on my last day as a member of the Cuesta College Police Department. I am stepping down to accept a position as a Police Commander for the City of Grover Beach. This was an incredibly hard decision, but ultimately an opportunity I felt compelled to pursue. Although I am excited by the new challenge ahead, I will deeply miss the community at Cuesta College and the men and women of CCPD who it has been an honor to serve w...ith over these past four years. I also have faith that the right person will step in behind me to continue our proud tradition of service to Cuesta College, and build upon the department's success. Here is a short excerpt from a letter I wrote to the department: As I wind down my time here during this final week, I am reflecting on the past four years as a member of the CCPD family. It is difficult to put all those memories, and what this time with all of you has meant to me, into one letter. You took a new Chief in and welcomed me with that unique Cuesta Way. Thank you for the chance to serve alongside you, to learn from you, and to grow with you. While this next transition comes with a mix of emotions, the one that comes most to mind is gratitude. CCPD is a very special place, and I am so grateful that the road of my life in service led here. I will cherish the time we spent together during BBQs, student festivals, awards nights, teambuilding workshops, holiday parties, PSO scenario day, Top Gun competitions, Campus Safety 101 talks, training events, and even a fire extinguisher day or two. I will remember the compassion you gave to every student or staff you encountered, especially those in crisis who needed someone to count on in that moment. You may not always see it or feel it during these challenging times, but your work here is critically important, and the lives of our college community are safer because of this department’s vigilance. I am proud of all of you, and I leave with the confidence that Cuesta College is in good hands. Thank you to everyone who has made my time here at Cuesta College an enriching experience. Stay healthy, be safe, and care for each other. -Bryan Millard, Chief of Police, July 2016-September 2020

A great weekend encounter between Officer Alison Herson and one of our staff members and his son on our SLO campus. We especially love the salute! This type of support is priceless; we really appreciate our Cuesta community. Go Cougars!
