In 2002, Campbell's Soup and Feeding America teamed up to found Tackling Hunger Month in October, recognizing food insecurity in America. Looking back to spring 2020, our project Food Waste Warriors engaged students enrolled in Dr. Huang's hospitality courses to bring awareness to organizations such as Hunger at Home. In teams, students developed a SWOT analysis for the organization, created promotional materials, identified opportunities for potential new funding sources, and helped plan for their annual Bridge the Gap Gala event. We hope that our work contributes to California’s statewide efforts to reduce disposal of organic waste by 75% by 2025 for a more sustainable future.
