Now that most, if not all of our CTA members are on winter break, I want to take a moment to say thank you to each and every one of you for the immense amount o...f work, dedication, blood, sweat, and even some tears that you have given this fall, and even back over the summer and last spring. Educators have proven, again, that we will do whatever we need to do to be there for our colleagues and students. Each day that I serve in my role as a CTA Board Member I am continually impressed, motivated, and moved by what I see our members doing for our profession and students, and even more so these last nine months as we’ve navigated the COVID crisis. I am inspired beyond belief and I hope that each of you know how much you truly are appreciated, respected, and loved. Please, find some moments over these next couple of weeks to unplug, recharge, spend time with your loved ones, and rest. You all deserve this break more than ever before, and that is saying something because you all deserve it every single year! Happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, merry Kwanza, and may the New Year usher in some much needed change and relief for us all. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

CTA Members and friends: We are asking you to call Governor Newsom at (916) 445-2841 and tell him that no school in counties with COVID-19 rates in the Purple ...tier should be open for in-person instruction. There must be accountability, transparency and enforceability of all state safety guidelines and the state must monitor, investigate and enforce all safety standards. The state also needs accurate and transparent data on COVID transmission rates in schools to inform reopening decisions. Friends I attempted to call a few minutes ago but I reached a recording that was not taking messages. I would suggest that people call tomorrow and if you receive a recording then go to his website and leave a comment.
