Check out this cute Valentine’s Day engineering challenge! Posted @withregram @theaverageteacher Check out this fun Valentine's Day #stemchallenge! All you need is some thick poster board/cardboard and some plastic cups! Challenge your students to build a heart using only the materials provided. They will need to stack each row of cups on a sturdy strip of cardboard in order for it to work properly - but you can choose whether or not to tell them that. ... This challenge can be done on a much smaller scale than pictured, if desired, but I wouldn't recommend going any larger than this. It's super challenging, but fun! This is just one of 5 Valentine's-themed activities in my February STEM challenges resource. If you'd like to check out the rest of them, type this link into your browser: https://bit.ly/38chWAB (The resource is also 25% off for a few more hours!) Or, comment below and I'll DM you a clickable link! Posted @withregram @stemedfund Happy first day of #BlackHistoryMonth everyone! Today and every day we celebrate representation, including representation in STEM! Let this quote by Mae C. Jemison, the first African-American female astronaut, be a reminder to Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations. If you can dream it, you can be it!

Such a cool and easy DIY project! Posted @withregram @kidsfunscience Olive oil containers a bunch of organic molecules that can absorbed light one color and omit it as different color. The glow seen with in the olive oil is fluorescents. Check out how to do this experiment at https://youtu.be/4UZWY-mEK2Y or click the link in my profile. Check out this cool Unpoppable Bubbles DIY project! Posted @withregram @steamnkidz In need of some extra activities to help through the pandemic? This awesome experiment allows for some bubble & science fun! ... You probably already have most of the items at home! Materials: 2 cups of water dish soap 2 tablespoons of glycerin A few pipettes Cotton gloves Instructions: 1. Cut a pipette on the bigger end to act as your bubble wand. These are super soft and help to protect the bubbles from popping. Your local craft store should have them. 2. Fill your bowl with water, and dish soap. Stir very gently as you don’t want to cause foam. 3. Next, add glycerin. Glycerin is available at craft stores or online. This version is edible, but nobody plans on eating the bubbles! 4. Stir again slowly. 5. Put on your cotton gloves which allows a soft surface for the bubble to fall on. 6. Dip the large end of the pipette into the solution. Slowly blow out a bubble. 7. Enjoy the bubbles!! The science behind it: A traditional soap mixture for a bubble is made up of three layers: soap, water, and then another layer of soap. This sandwich on the outside of the bubble is called soap film. The soap film pops when the water trapped between the layers evaporates. When you add glycerin, it makes the soap layers thicker, as well as allowing for the water to evaporate much less quickly. This creates longer and stronger bubbles! #steamnkidz #steamandkids #steamforkids #stemandkids #stemforkids #youthinstem #stemforgirls #girlsinstem #kidsprojects #science #scienceforkids #littlescientist #kids #kidsofinstagram #kidsactivities #diy #artsandcrafts #engineers #engineering #littleengineers #building #builders #steam #steamnkids #kidsinstem #art #mathematics #technology
