In addition to the importance of planning for our physical safety in unsafe situations, we must consider our emotional wellbeing when creating a safety plan. Emotional safety will look different for each person, but ultimately includes developing a personalized plan that helps with validating your feelings and decisions when dealing with abuse or living in unsettling spaces. When we are in unhealthy and violent relationships, we can experience devaluing, belittling, and hatef...ul behaviors (verbal, physical, financial, sexual). Having the ability or resources to leave certain situations are not always available, therefore it is important to have a plan in place for coping with our emotional wellbeing in the meantime. Emotional safety planning is not only useful for abusive relationships, but anytime we are living with unsafety or uncertainty. If you are currently navigating issues with emotional safety, we are here to help. Please give us a call at (562) 985-1366 and know that you are not alone. #seguridad #emociones #plandeseguridademocional #plandeseguridad #saludmentalyemocional #saludmental

There are many reasons people stay in abusive relationships, with the main one being the physical risk of leaving. Some other reasons include the other partner using intimidation, lack of resources, immigration status, children, and cultural context. No matter what the reason is survivors of DV should be supported and empowered! Learn more about why people stay and how to support survivors at thehotline.org.... #lbtrc #lbtrclove #DV #domesticviolenceawareness #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth #thehotline #nationalhotlineofdomesticviolence See more

We had the honor of learning more about intergenerational trauma in the Black community presented by our amazing clinician, Sogema Montes! Imagine: stigma towards mental health+ limited to no access to mental health resources+ centuries of oppression, slavery, and continued injustices and trauma. This is the reality of our Black clients and community. This is what continues the perpetuation of intergenerational trauma! Thank you for the powerful presentation, Soge! #lbtrc #lbtrclove #trauma #therapy #blacklivesmatter #blackmentalhealthmatters #staywoke

September is Suicide Awareness Month. There are many ways the community can help prevent suicide. Our Outreach Coordinator and Clinical Staff member Sarah, highlights four ways on how you can navigate these difficult and much needed conversations with people you know who experience suicidal thoughts. At the LBTRC, we believe in both supporting those who experience mental health struggles and their loved ones. Please remember, that it is not your responsibility to take away t...he thoughts, but rather to show up and listen. Suicide isn’t an easy topic to think about, let alone discuss. We encourage you to have these difficult conversations and to take care of yourselves, too. This information was retrieved from www.NAMI.org. To learn more please visits their website.
