The Hands On Lab at California State University, Chico

Our Fall 2019 Hands on Lab Field Trip Calendar is now full. Our typical process for #WeAreChico, our social media storytelling campaign, relies on a bit of randomness: To capture diverse slices of life with each story, w...e visit different campus locations at various times, and introduce ourselves to the fifth student we see, randomly choosing from a list of questions we've written. On #InternationalWomensDay, in the spirit of celebrating women's achievements, we chose to be more intentional. My greatest accomplishment is creating a segment of the Waves Lab for our hands-on lab geared towards elementary school students. We were able to do a free lab for the children from Paradise affected by the Camp Fire. The teacher said it was the most engaged she had ever seen them with science. After such a traumatic experience, I was really grateful to be able to provide the students with such a positive experience.
