Union Steward Training Opportunity Level 1 participants will be able to identify the important roles and contributions of unions to our society; articulate the important role of Union Stewards within their chapters; explain the structure of CSEA to fellow members; summarize the rights of a Union Steward; utilize effective interviewing skills when conducting a grievance investigation; and differentiate between what is a contract violation/grievance and what is not. Each partic...ipant must complete the required skill/knowledge reinforcement activity(ies) in his/her chapter to proceed to Union Steward Training Level 2. When: Saturday, January 23, 2021 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Enrollment is limited to the first 50 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. RSVP is mandatory for all participants. Brothers and Sisters, It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Debra Magana. She passed away on October 3 after a short illness. Debra worked as an Instructional Assistant - Special Education, in our school district for 28 years. She worked at Howard Tanner Elementary and was reporting to work the morning she fell ill. An indispensable and dedicated employee, she is survived by her sons Elias, Regis, and daughter Jaclyn. Her son Elias shared with us h...ow funny and open-minded she was, enjoying music ranging from Kool & The Gang to Katy Perry. How she cried the day Stan Lee died and spent that day watching Marvel movies with her children. On a more personal note Debra was an Instructional Aide for Special Education. I, Alex Maldonado, am the father of a special needs child and I know the patience and love that goes into the work she did for 28 years. On behalf of CSEA, myself, and the countless children whose lives you touched thank you Debra Magana. As I’m sure you’re all aware, final expenses are a huge burden on our loved ones.
