[email protected] May 28th may be our last chance this school year to make our wants and needs known to the school board about the necessity of having Elementary Music fully restored to our Elementary School Curriculum for this 2015-16 school year. We have asked for $500,000 funding and for six more music teachers, for a total of ten teachers. We have asked the school board to begin the hiring process now while teachers are still graduating. Money should not be an issue with the newly revised May Budget. There will also be carry over money available from this current 2014-15 budget. This has been a sizable amount in the ongoing past. We have so appreciated all those of you who have come out previously and spoken in behalf of this important cause. We still need you to speak and /or hold placards and show your support! Have you had your music student check out a box of chocolate bars yet? We have approx 25 boxes left to sell out of 100. Please consider having your child sell a box of chocolate! We greatly appreciate the support!

Tonight at Crystal Middle School we will have our final performances for the school year. Please come out and support the kids and all the hard work they have put in this year. A flyer went home for all drop off times for the students. The event starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm. We hope to see you there!... Thank you. See more

Music Booster Board, I regret to inform you that the spring concert music assemblies, scheduled for tomorrow, have been cancelled. I'm informing all music students verbally in their music classes today. They've been cancelled due to us not being given approval for gym use time that would allow us to set up all the needed equipment in time for the assemblies. The original plan was to leave the set up overnight for the next day assemblies. But I was told that we were going t...o need to clean it all up tonight and then wouldn't be able to get into the gym to start setting up until lunchtime on Thursday. It is not physically possible for us to do the set up in this amount of time, even with extra hands. And it wouldn't be safe to be trying to transport all of the equipment from stage and music room during the lunches. I was told that the gym use was denied due to not wanting to infringe on PE instructional minutes. Therefore, the assemblies have been cancelled. I'm not happy about this. If you have any further questions or concerns, you may contact the school principal Monifa Williams. I'm encouraging music staff, students, and boosters to focus on having a great spring concert tonight. If you have questions/concerns regarding the cancellation of the assemblies, let's try to keep that away from our preparations for tonight. Thank you! I greatly appreciate your support! Mrs. Doherty
