Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation are not too hard to read at all. In fact, they follow a very simple pattern that we can follow to understand Jesus’ message to the seven churches. John opens with a word of affirmation, of something that they are doing well. Then he calls out the church in some correction in some way that they have missed what following Jesus is about. Finally, he gives them a promise of what will be if they remain faithful. Revelation invites us to reflect, bo...th individually and as a church, on what we are doing well in, what we are lacking in, and what we can hope in.
