What is CrossFit and why CFSB? CrossFit is a vigorous style of fitness training comprised of movements and mobility performed at high intensity. The WOD (workout of the day) combines endurance, functional strength, and form to complete various styles of exercise. It might sound scary, but it really isn’t! Each movement is learned and practiced with an experienced coach that will guide you through the movements and help you along the way. There is no better feeling than worki...ng hard through a WOD and feeling yourself getting stronger. You will be sore at first, but CrossFit aids in strength building, weight loss, agility, mobility, flexibility, aerobic fitness, and is appropriate to start and continue at any stage in life! Why CFSB? CrossFit Santa Barbara is a family friendly community built on a foundation of inclusivity, mutual respect, and teamwork. We welcome people of all ages, fitness levels, fitness goals, and experience. The culture at CFSB goes beyond fitness. We are a supportive community both inside and outside the gym and we love to see each other succeed in all aspects of life. What also sets CFSB apart is our expertise in movement and wellness. New co-owner Erin Foster is a physical therapist and coach in pregnancy and postpartum athleticism. She believes in movement analysis, correction, and maintaining physical wellness rather than fixing an injury later (but she can do that too!). We are here to help YOU achieve your goals as safely and effectively as possible! Interested? Have questions or concerns? Set up a No Sweat Intro with Erin and Jeff! Meet our new owners (yet not so new faces), Jeff and Erin Foster! A bit about them: Erin and Jeff met while playing volleyball at East Beach in 2009. Unknowingly having crossed paths many times in the past, they clicked immediately and were married at Santa Claus Lane Beach three years later.... Jeff, a CrossFit lover from the start, was member #4 of CFSB in 2007 when it began as a garage gym. Erin attended a workout in the early years of CFSB, but at the time when moving heavy weight was prioritized above good form and she decided CrossFit was a recipe for injury (and not something that aligned well with her burgeoning physical therapy career!). Jeff and Erin moved to Chicago in 2013 for Erin’s physical therapy program and Jeff (finally) convinced Erin to give CrossFit another try. Erin took the On-Ramp class at Windy City CrossFit and has been hooked ever since. Upon completion of Erin’s PT program, the Foster’s returned to Santa Barbara and CFSB quickly became their fit family. Now very much a believer in CrossFit methodology, Erin continued CrossFitting throughout both of her pregnancies (Caden is now 3, and Kai is 8 months!) with Jeff by her side, striving to stay young and keep up with the agile college student members. The Fosters love CFSB so when Casey and Julian decided to step away last year, they knew it was meant to be. Their dream is to to build upon the existing culture of inclusivity and support that CFSB is already known for, but expand the offerings to include kids / teens / legends classes, as well as mom-strength, postpartum return to exercise programs, and sport specific training programs. And OF COURSE Erin will have physical therapy services available as needed. We are so excited to see you at our new location at Orange Ave soon! Sign up for a No Sweat Intro (link in bio) to take a tour of the new location, chat with Erin or Jeff, ask any questions that you might have, and get signed up today! Happy lifting
