Effective at the end of today, we will be closing the physical location for our gym and moving all of our workouts online for at least 2 weeks. Over the past 3 days, the CDC, Federal Dept of Public Health, California Governor, and President of the United States have all requested some form of the following: No assembly in groups of more than 10. Self-quarantine for those over 65 years of age or with immune deficiencies. The closing of all gyms/bars/theaters... This morning, the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Kern County was announced. Let me be very clear: the vast majority of our gym members are exceptionally low risk because of their excellent health and young age. Our decision to close our gym physically is not self-motivated. We believe it is our responsibility as members of a community to protect the marginalized and those at risk. Ultimately, if we overreact to this virus and take extra and unneeded precautions, we may never know how much of this is over reaction. However, if we underreact to it we will certainly know. This is all a theoretical debate until one of our loved ones has a critical health issue from COVID-19. If that happens, we will all be analyzing these precautionary steps very differently. We, the owners and coaches at CrossFit Feral absolutely love you guys and the community we make up. We want you to know that. Here is what we will be doing while the gym is physically closed: Lending out equipment to members for workouts at home. Publishing workouts that can be done from home w/ little to no equipment. Doing Facebook Live workouts throughout the day so that you can join in with us. Announcing a fun team competition, led by coaches, that you can all participate in for free and win a team prize.
