What success have you ever had that didn’t come from consistently doing the same thing? Think about the things you’ve accomplished that you are proud of, now think about the process it took to get there. Whether you are trying to lose weight, get, stronger, improve a skill, or build your business, the process to get there is the same. Hard work, done consistently. This can be done through pure grit and determination. Grinding through each day with no clue what needs to get done, just constantly pushing in the direction of the desired outcome. While this method will eventually get you there, it can be done much more efficiently. This is where a routine comes in....

...Be honest with your self assessment, are you the person that you want to be? When you start to look at your life from this outside perspective you begin to build a new awareness about who and what you are. If this is the first time you’ve seen yourself from this perspective take a minute and let it sink in. While the truth may hurt, it is those that seek this truth that are able to change....

On the latest episode of the Stick To The Program Podcast Casey Parlett and George Christopher Briones III go deep into some topics that they share a passion for. They discuss the importance of taking care of yourself to allow you to take care of those around you to the best of your ability. Then dive deep into the importance of taking real action towards those you claim to care about and how your phone call, conversation, or time spent could be the very thing that gives them the hope, meaning, or purpose to keep moving forward. Which led to discussing the importance of sharing your lessons and experiences with others.

There are so many of these stories of professional athletes using their thoughts and their words to perform in high pressure situations and winning championships. This same concept and process will work for anyone and everyone in all aspects of life. Your thoughts become your words, and your words become your actions... I talk a lot about the importance of nutrition being the foundation for optimal health and performance which is very true but your mind is really the foundat...ion for it all. So by being in control of your thoughts you can really start to control your outcome. Any changes that you want to make in your life or any success you desire to have must first be achieved in your mind. Think about how that change looks like or how that success feels. Visualize yourself how or where you want to be. Tell yourself that you can. Let this internal process build your confidence and use your words to put out what you want to the world. Your mind can be your best ally or your worst enemy, your thoughts are your own and only you can control them. Use them to be who and what you want to be. Where your head goes, your body follows.

If you try and push everyday to your max effort, your training starts to look like this: Monday- 100% of your true intensity Tuesday- 90% Wednesday-80%... Thursday-75% (Supposed to be a 60% day but you tried to go hard anyway) Friday -70% Saturday- 70% This approach will really limit your training potential which in turn stunts the adaptations you are after. This is a very common thing in the CrossFit community and leads to burn out and overtraining. Which is understandable when people are coming in feeling that they are working as hard as they can everyday and not getting the results they want, but the truth is they are only working in the "black hole.

New blog post up from @sticktotheprogram_pc For so long I’ve been looked at, talked about, and in some ways praised as the one that always has their shit together. This false sense that I don’t struggle, suffer, and experience failure couldn’t be further from the truth. Maybe I just have a really good poker face Ha. Just writing that it’s hard not to laugh because I feel that I at least struggle, suffer, and fail as much as most, if not more. So maybe what those that see me ...as having all my shit together are actually mistaking that for my ability to roll with the punches and use them as an opportunity to learn, which fuels my journey down my path towards excellence. Growing up with divorced parents, living in a broken home, constantly moving homes, and having an absentee drug addicted father I should’ve been a statistic. My life statistically should’ve put me down a path of drugs, trouble, and no education. Looking back I see how easily I could’ve ended up on that path as another statistic. I saw so many of the kids I grew up with in similar situations that did. So why me? Why did I end up on such a different path?

For episode 71 we kick off by welcoming Arend to the team which led us into a conversation essentially about self awareness. We discuss habits and routines, the... idea that time is an illusion, and the importance of communication in general but most importantly with ourselves. What this all came from was the question we continue to ask and explore, How can I be my best self? See more

Mental skills... Do you have them? Are you practicing them? Could these skills be what you are missing?

CrossFit 760 05.08.2020

75 percent of Americans are overweight, 42 percent are obese, and 50 percent are pre diabetic or have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. When you really think about it those numbers are terrifying. Without a major reform this will only continue to get worse. As I see it part of the problem is that you and others like you that are reading this are most likely a part of the underwhelming majority that is already on the path towards a lifestyle that prioritizes health and cons...tant self improvement. While I would never take the importance of that away, there is a large part of the population that is on the exact opposite path. A path that leads towards chronic disease, mental illness, and eventually an early death and they need help. The same way that you need inspiration, motivation, and education that makes sense for where you are at to continue moving yourself down your path, they need the same in a way that will allow them to change the direction of their life. They need a life line that is easy to grasp to lead them away from death and towards health. See more
