Thank you Fox News for this amazing write-up on our powerful commercial with Danny Trejo An excerpt: The actor has been vocal about his troubled past for years. He routinely tells the story of how he got his start in acting by showing off some tricks he learned as a top prison boxer at California’s San Quentin State Prison in the 1960s. That’s around the same time he got clean and now he’s doing his best to pay it forward 52 years of sobriety later in the new PSA for CRI-Help. Link to article here: http://bit.ly/foxtrejo

A Place I Will Forever Call Home -- Cara Sandweiss, Clinical Program Manager On November 3rd, 2014, I was delivered to CRI-Help in handcuffs. The electronic monitor locked around my ankle reminded me that, although I was no longer in a jail cell, I was still the property of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. I knew at the time that CRI-Help was my only chance at regaining my freedom freedom from the legal system, and freedom from addiction. After countless years... spent within the dark shadows of drugs and alcohol, I was desperately ready to stay sober and that is exactly what I did. I never thought I would end up in rehab, or that CRI-Help would undoubtedly help mold me into the woman I am today. I spent six months as a client at the Pfleger Center, where my CDW Mary Grayson helped me lay the foundation for my recovery. As I neared the completion of my treatment, I knew with absolute certainty that I wanted to work at CRI-Help, so that I could contribute to the program that saves countless lives. After six years of my life having revolved around CRI-Help, on November 30, 2020, I will step out of my position as Pfleger Center’s Clinical Program Manager to pursue other interests within the addiction treatment industry, and to focus on my family. However, I am honored to be able to remain involved through my new role as a member of CRI-Help’s Board of Directors. The career that I built, the relationships I made, and almost everything I know about addiction treatment and recovery (and almost everyone I know in the treatment field), are a direct result of my experience with CRI-Help, first as a client and later as a staff member. CRI-Help is a place I will forever call home a home filled with people I love unconditionally, people whom I consider my family. --------------- Alumni recovery stories and more! How often do you practice healthy eating and sleeping habits? How many days a week do you practice some form of mind-body relaxation? How often do you celebrate your small victories?... How many days a week do you write a gratitude list about your recovery, your life, and the people in it?

Meet Oscar Lopez. Pfleger CDW. It took me a long time, and a lot of hard work, to become the man I had become. I’m not sure that I could even call that person a man. I’m not sure where I got my idea of what cool was, but I know it wasn’t from my parents. I was always looking at other people and how they were, and I wanted to be more like them. Thing is that the people I was watching were trouble makers. I thought making trouble was cool. I started hanging out with people I ...Continue reading
