Did you know that recent studies suggest that Black Americans are systematically under treated for pain and other chronic diseases relative to white Americans by an alarming 64%. Moreover, clinicians who endorsed these beliefs rated the black (vs. white) patient’s pain as lower and made less accurate treatment recommendations, leaving black patients vastly under treated during routine visits. Unfortunately, these medical disparities happen every day placing African Americans... at greatest risk for compromised outcomes. Therefore, we remain focused on creating a framework for diversity and inclusion training that will disrupt medical biases and address those disparities.
