RCP would like to invite you to the Hearts of Gold Gala 2021. This virtual fundraising event is put on by REACH, which supports children, adolescents, and adul...ts in adapting to and overcoming trauma and adversity through prevention and healing servicesWith REACH, children can heal, find their inner strength, and move forward with hope. Your support helps REACH purchase the equipment necessary to provide forensic interviews locally, which reduces the number of times the child has to share and relive their story of abuse. Contributions will allow REACH to deepen its therapeutic skills to enhance its child-centered and trauma-informed services. There is no charge to attend. The link below will take you to the fundraising website where you can register and purchase a gala package. http://bidpal.net/heartsofgold2021

California Medical Facility (CMF) staff members opened their hearts and homes to foster rescued dogs after leaders of Paws For Life K9 Rescue made the difficult... decision to evacuate the animals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As you can probably tell, some of the CMF employees immediately fell in love with their new four-legged foster friends. These animals sense everything we feel. Providing them with love, comfort, and security for even just one night was not something I could turn away from, said CMF Employee Jessica Rice. We have all been given the ability to change someone or something’s life. We should never forget that. Read more: http://bit.ly/2NG7aMv #dogs #fosterdogs #community #dog #doggo #corrections

Don Chaddock of CDCR's Office of Public and Employee Communications generally stays behind the scenes as the editor of the Inside CDCR newsletter, sharing stori...es about how CDCR and CCHCS staff give back to their communities. He steps into the spotlight for a brief moment to share his reasons for supporting organizations that provide opportunities for children through Our Promise CA: "For years, I’ve donated to children’s charities such as the Boys and Girls Club, Scouting organizations and Sacramento's Fairytale Town. Donating isn’t always about money. As a Cub Scout den leader, I also donate my time to help my children and their fellow scouts learn valuable life skills. For some scouts, our camping trips are their first time being outdoors. Through the Our Promise campaign, donating is easy since it automatically comes out of my paycheck. Our Promise CA is a voluntary program in which state workers can make one-time or ongoing contributions via payroll deductions. This year's campaign is 100 percent online, and the Donor Portal can be accessed via Cal Employee Connect. We would like to recognize Juvenile Detention Officer Esmeralda Lopez as Madera Probation's Employee of the Quarter! Officer Lopez is always positive and willi...ng to share her ideas to promote pro-social behavior with our youth. During this pandemic, when most of our program providers had to decrease services, staff like Officer Lopez have come up with creative ideas for alternative programming. Officer Lopez has contributed to the Juvenile Detention Facility Reading Incentive Program by donating additional books. Officer Lopez also facilitated the American Flag project by working with the youth to make flag designs using wooden pallets. She assisted with the Sky’s the Limit hot air balloon arts/crafts project as well as community service during the pandemic to clean up the cemetery. Officer Lopez is always a team player who is respected by her peers and the youth she works with. Great job Officer Lopez and thank you for all you do for the facility, the youth you redirect and for the probation department! See more
