It is as important as ever to expose our children to Black History and culture to help them learn how we can grow from our country’s past. Books are a great way to approach subjects that can be harder to talk about and can give you a great jumping off point to encourage conversation with your children about a very important topic! Follow the link for some book recommendations in honor or Black History Month. #BlackHistoryMonth

True or false? You need to deep clean inside your child’s ears. This is FALSE! Ears are self-cleaning. Wax provides protection against harmful things from getting to the delicate ear drums, so if you see wax on the outside that means it is doing its job! You can clean wax on the outer ear with a washcloth but nothing should ever go INSIDE the ear canal! In fact, frequent use of Q-tips in the ears can actually cause wax to be pushed further in, causing impaction and can also risk damage to the ear drum. Rarely do ears make an abnormal amount of ear wax that may need a doctor’s attention. Your CPCMG pediatrician can tell you if this is the case and discuss how to manage your child’s ears safely. #mythmonday #kidsENTawarenessmonth

The CDC has announced new guidelines for quarantine. You can reduce the number of days of quarantine after exposure if absolutely necessary. You can reduce your quarantine with a negative test, but the test needs to be done 5 days after quarantine begins and you should be asymptomatic. Quarantine can end after the 7th day with a negative test but you need to continue to monitor for symptoms. Alternatively, you can end quarantine at 10 days without a test if no symptoms have developed. The previous guideline of 14 days remains the safest option. #COVID19
