Try breathing through your nose, having a hot beverage handy, using a mouthwash with fluoride two to three times a day to seal teeth, or using some desensitizing toothpaste! Amie is our new assistant and another friendly face you will see around the office. She started with us this January. She had been an assistant for another San Diego dentist for 20+ years and when her doctor retired, we found her a new dental home with us. What is fluoride? You’ve probably heard that it’s beneficial to your dental health, but do you know why? Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps to fight plaque and bacteria that can cause eroding of tooth enamel, which in turn can cause cavities. Even though fluoride is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, it’s important to supplement fluoride intake by drinking fluoridated water and using fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash.
