Being part of our community and education are big components of who we are. We had a blast being part of Collin's Doctoral Capstone Project at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and providing insights into the world of equine-assisted therapy, and more specifically, how it relates to occupational therapy for wounded warriors, first responders, and frontline medical teams. We're looking forward to collaborating on some really dynamic OT programs that bring a totally new approach with potentially extraordinary results...stay tuned!

"WHY" ADVERB * for what reason or purpose. It is a common question from those who don’t fully understand actions that another being does. Sometimes, even the person performing those actions doesn’t fully comprehend the why of what they do, or just how big the impact they have is. For Cornerstone's Founder and Executive Director, Judy Beckett, explaining her why isn’t easy, but is the reality. Recently, we received a letter and a gift from a student of Cornerstone. With the letter, he also presented us with a challenge coin he was awarded. The words in this letter, are the why of Cornerstone.

Hi Judy and Emma, 2020 has been a brutal year aside from COVID-19. I was hospitalized 3 times, had knee surgery , and ongoing doctors appointments. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it out to visit cornerstone after March. I did have the pleasure to receive a prayer quilt delivered to my home by Judy and Emma along with food and kind words of support during a very difficult time for our family. Cornerstone has supported me with horse riding therapy for PTSD through 2019 and contin...ued to support me and my family this year by checking in to offer support. I want to share my story because it’s important, that all military and veteran community, know that at Cornerstone you really matter, despite Covid, Judy finds a way to get things done. She find a way to make herself and the horses available if there someone in need. I’m forever grateful for all the support Cornerstone has provided, having had the opportunity to ride gave peace of mind I couldn’t find else were. Thank you Judy and Emma Happy New year! See more

Thank goodness we’re in the habit of checking our hay for debris before we feed. This is one nasty customer. The worst one we’ve ever encountered. Does anyone know exactly what this is?

As many of you know, our 26 year old gelding Rebel is a funny guy...turn him out in an arena with an obstacle course and he will knock down EVERY cone/bending pole in sight #cornerstonetheraputicridingcenter #horsesofcornerstone #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #therapyhorse #woundedwarrior #unconditionallove #alternativetherapy #healingtrauma #healingsouls #lifeisbetterwithhorses #lovewins #woundedwarriors #servingthosewhoserve #horseshelpheal

We are so honored to have been nominated for this year's Visionary Award. To say we are humbled to be included with such extraoridnary organizations is an understatement. Thank you LEAD San Diego for recognizing our mission and our commitment to wounded, ill and injured service members and first responders.

When COVID-19 surprised us all in March, almost immediately, we knew it that was a call to action for Cornerstone. Since then, we have been working diligently behind the scenes developing programs to support front line medical workers, active duty service members who are in their recovery process at Balboa Hospital/Naval Medical Center San Diego, and first responders. We knew we needed to be ready when the call came. Two weeks ago, we got the call. We were invited by the ...Resiliency Support Command at Naval Medical Center San Diego (Balboa Hospital) to come to the hospital for 2 consecutive weeks (one day of each week) to support their staff. The frontline medical teams are taking a huge hit as a result of COVID. The stress and anxiety is taking a major toll on their mental and emotional health. The intention of the Resiliency Support Command was to provide their medical staff with some respite from the stresses they've been facing as well as to introduce all of the departments to beneficial programs that support health and wellness for their patients. In order to make sure we hit a home run we transformed the baseball field at Balboa into an awesome horse playground with 9 horses in total; 6 mini's in corrals and 3 of our big boys cruising the field and schmoozing with the hospital staff. The results were extraordinary and honestly exceeded our expectations. The feedback from the upper echelon of the hospital has been extremely positive. The event was attended by 50+ people, and as you can see from the photos, there was a whole lotta feel-good going on. We will be back on the field next Tuesday, October 6 to support the hospital staff and are working toward offering this program quarterly and ultimately (fingers crossed) monthly. We are incredibly honored to work with Naval Medical Center San Diego and to be part of their process of providing services to support their staff and their patients during this very challenging time in history. To do that, we need your help. As you can well imagine, the costs associated with an event of this scale are significant. We ask you today to please consider supporting our military and frontline medical workers by making a tax deductible donation to Cornerstone. 100% of your gift goes back into programs like these. Our hard expenses for the event this week and next are $6500...we need your help and hope that you will help us continue supporting all who sacrifice and serve our country. To donate, click here: www.cornerstonetrc.org. Follow this link to our webpage and click on the donate button and the rest is simple. Thank you for your support! Special thanks to our incredible team!!! Emma Lytle, Matt French, Rosalie Casteneda Goodlett, Thomas Goodlett, Tammie Wheatley DiMarzo, Beth Dowell, Marion Wright, Melissa Claywell, Rachel Shaw, Jennifer Fabrick, Debi Parker, Katie Gibson...you are rockstars!

We are in midst of gathering important data for a major donor outreach & we need your help! Our goal is to have a minimum of 500 people answer the following question. It's quick, it's easy and the data will provide valuable insight that we can then use to communicate to corporate donors how powerful and transformative horses are in our lives. Thanks for helping us as we strive to build our corporate donor base during this very challenging time. Thanks everyone for your help. We are SUPER interested to read everyone's answers!
