You are the voice of reason in a dark night. You are standing on the side of compassion, and of science, and we at HACHR are eternally grateful. The events of last week have made it clear-- Fascism is absolutely emerging in the United States, and it is gaining ground. Fascism is not merely jack-booted thugs and totalitarianism. Fascism is a social, political and economic ideology that requires a mass base of support. Most Americans were shocked and outraged as they witnessed a mob storm the capitol in an effort to stop the peaceful transfer of power, inflamed and incited by Donald Trump. But here is a sobering reality check: 19% of Americans supported this insurrection. They are not going away. That begs the question-- What can and should we be doing locally?
