9-8-8 is making progress! While initially approved in 2018, and not taking effect until 2022, each step is exciting progress. This article refers to more funding to crisis centers to support increased capacity to respond to increased call volume. This is especially good news for those with #mentalhealth issues. The article also reports about improving support services for LGBTQ+ youth, for minorities, and for people in rural counties. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-signs-law-making-988-

Protecting Those Who Serve "Fit for Duty" goes beyond our physical fitness and it's equally important for us to take care of our mental fitness. The incidents and stressors that we deal with every day, the ones we "shrug off" as "part of the job...", can mount up over time and take a toll. We need to remain vigilant and look for signs of distress in our colleagues, our brothers and sisters. Courage is not found in covering up these traumas, but is found in acknowledging them, and seeking help, so that we are stronger and more prepared for the next emergency. www.eachmindmatters.org www.suicideispreventable.org See more
