One of the main reasons to avoid antibiotics is because it can destroy good bacteria in the microbiome. In a similar way, chemotherapy can destroy not only the bad stuff, but the good. This disturbs the body's natural balance. With birth control, its' important to know that it can disrupt your body's natural balance of estrogen and progesterone. This can lead to yeast overgrowth. Overgrowth occurs when Candida, a common form of yeast, attaches itself to estrogen. I'm not sayi...ng, don't use There is always a cost!! Unfortunately, there is evidence that shows many destroy strains of good bacteria will never come back. However, when you fight and overcome cancer everyday, you see how miraculous and regenerative the body can be. I know how powerfully the body can recover. Personalized supplements, probiotics, specialized nutrient dense diet, sunlight, and more can have powerful effects at bring the body back to homeostasis.

This is what I do to keep my immune system strong! * 20+ minutes of sunshine every day (I love doing my workouts outside to hit two birds with one stone). * 30+ minutes of exercise each day (walking, jogging, yoga, barre, etc).... * Focus on building a strong gut (cutting out foods you are sensitive or allergic to, taking healing supplements like 4 Gut Repair, and following the other diet steps below) * Consume little or no sugar (remember, sugar reduces the immune system response by 60% for up to 6 hours after consumption). * Consume little or no processed foods (these are usually filled with harmful chemicals, preservatives, dyes, etc that destroy gut health and the immune system). * Consume organic foods (non-organic foods can be laden with harmful pesticides, herbicides, and dyes and do not contain as many nutrients as organic foods). * Get 6-8 hours of good quality sleep each night (remember, when we sleep our immune system is working at its peak to fight pathogens). This can include eliminating blue light exposure after sunset, not eating 3-hours before bed, maintain consistent sleep and wake schedule, consider a supplement like 4 Sleep from Perfectly Healthy). * Take your immune-supportive supplements: Vitamin C, Power Immune, Vitamin D3K2, and Colloidal Silver from Perfectly Healthy. We actually carry a Cold Kit to keep in your medicine cabinet when sickness hits!

"Ok so you treat cancer, what do you eat everyday so you don't get cancer?" I focus on four things. 1. Nutrient Density... 2. Quality 3. Amount (Not that much) 4. Enjoyment I eat seasonal vegetables, grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, homemade bread, butter, coconut milk, honey. I've never followed any diet other than eating food that has been around 1,000 years. This is how our ancestors ate. They have been around for a lot longer than us. And they had much lower incidence of cancer. Cancer happens for a lot of reasons. It happens because cells in the body evolve to proliferate out of control. It happens because our evolved cancer suppression systems aren’t perfect. And it happens because many of the exposures we have in our modern world. Part of that is the standard American diet. Time to go back to our roots and eat real food.

This is my couch and my own Tranquility Formula! I take it because being doctor is insanely stressful. What you don't see is loads of charts, business issues, and countless other issues that are par for the course. I wouldn't want it any other way! I don't think SSRIs (anti-depressants) are a long term solution because there is always a cost. I like to stick to natural ingredients. ... What is Tranquillity Formula: A calming formula made of key amino acids, vitamins, and herbs. The formula contains 130 mg of Passionflower, which has been reported to help with relaxation. Another key ingredient in the formula is L-Theanine, which releases dopamine and serotonin production, inducing relaxation.* www.perfectlyhealthy.com

This story is crazy! You need to watch this! This is our patient here at the Center for New Medicine. She came in with very bad IBS!!! ... I have seen every doctor At this point I was desperate He says to me do you have a dog? We utilized a parasite scan called the Firefly Treatment. It works to get rid of the bugs in our GI tract. Check out the testimonials on our Center for New Medicine Youtube page. She is seeing Dr. Bales and Brandi. They have been with me at the clinic for many years. They are awesome and committed to getting to the bottom of any ailment!

Why does cancer start? It’s not always due to genetics. In fact, evidence shows it’s rarely about genetics. Only 5-10% of all cancer cases can be attributed to genetic defects, whereas the remaining 90-95% have their roots in the environment and lifestyle. * Which means we have a lot of room for prevention. ... So what other factors should we be thinking about? Sleep Food Exercise Stress Chemicals in the air Pesticides in the food supply Infections Parasites We have to optimize all these factors. A few tips: Stress. If your mind is not at peace, your body is not at peace. Stress is one of the common threads I see in many of my cancer patients. Inflammation. Be aware of any inflammation in your body . Inflammation is the precursor to all disease. If your gut hurts consistently or you have chronic headaches, we need to get to the root cause of any inflammation. Sleep. Sleep is the elixir of life. It repairs the body. Exercise. Bodies are meant to move. Find time to move your body in any way. It’s about strengthening our bones. *Source: https://loom.ly/gzxG7uQ

As we embark on 2021, I’m thinking about how I can continue to extract the most from life. What am I not seeing? What am I wasting time on? After spending the holidays with friends and families, it's nice to take time off for self-reflection. Take time for yourself and realign your spirit for this year. What are some of your new habits for 2021? Walking barefoot is good for better control of your foot position when it strikes the ground, balance, proprioception, and body awar...eness, which can help with pain relief. Food! I'm eating lamb chops, sweet potatoes, acorn squash, and eggs most days. It's cold now so a lot of soups and broths as well. This year I am going to spend more time in nature. I am inside seeing patients all day which makes it difficult. But when I wake up and get home, there is no excuse! Visualizing all my 2021 goals. In 2020, I did a ton of podcasts, became a contributing writer for Ben Greenfield, and continued to master reversing cancer. Excited for 2021! Sleep is always a priority. I have my EMF shield in my room and no electronics!!!

Excluding skin cancer, colorectal cancer or colon cancer is the third most prevalent and lethal cancer among both men and women in the United States. This video is how one of my colon cancer patients found out she had stage 4 colon cancer. Not always, but one of the main correlations I see with colon cancer patients: visceral fat. ... The latest study shows conclusions: These results suggest that visceral adipose tissue accumulation and insulin resistance may promote the development of early-stage cancer but not adenoma in the colorectum. First symptoms are always interesting. Something that seems like not a big deal starts growing. In this case, continuous bouts of stomach issues were overlooked. It wasn't just once, but a few times. Symptoms are trying to tell us something! Even something like psoriasis as a deeper health issue going on. We have to get to the bottom of it!

WORLD CANCER DAY.

Preaching about plastics ten years ago!!!! In the four placentas, researchers found 12 particles, all of which had distinctive pigments. Three were able to be identified as coloured polypropylene -- a common type of plastic found in things such as packaging, tote bags, carpets, luggage and car interiors, among countless other products. The type of plastic for the other nine particles were not able to be identified, but the pigment on them was recognized as pigments used in ...man-made coatings, paints and dyes. In October, scientists revealed that babies fed formula milk in plastic bottles are swallowing millions of particles a day. In 2019, researchers reported the discovery of air pollution particles on the foetal side of placentas, indicating that unborn babies are also exposed to the dirty air produced by motor traffic and fossil fuel burning. Tiny fragments of plastic are referred to as microplastics. The particles are usually five millimetres or less in diameter and have been detected in bottled water, drinking water, fish and sea salt in various studies.

I usually recommend women after menopause and men after 45 to get a calcification sore. The calcification score shows if you have calcification or not. A full blood panel shows if there any heart disease indicators. ... We want to be proactive!!! In the United States, 655,000 people die from heart disease every year. What is heart disease? Fatty material called plaque builds up on the inside walls of the arteries making it hard for blood to move through them. The arteries are tubes that carry blood from the heart to other parts of the body. How do we prevent hear disease? -Strength training -Nutrient dense diet (meat, seasonal vegetables, fats) -Not too much alcohol -The right supplements When it comes to supplements, there are a few I consistently use for patients. Berberine is a herbal supplement obtained from a number of different plants, which Chinese medicine has used for perhaps thousands of years. And berberine may reduce cardiovascular risk. Berberine increases the production of nitric oxide, which in turn plays a key role in the regulation of endothelial progenitor cells. These cells mature and replace older endothelial cells, ensuring the arteries stay flexible and youthful.

When you don't sleep, your body produces fewer natural killer (NK) cells and less melatonin. NK cells are one of your body's frontline immune defense against cancer, and melatonin has cytotoxic effects against it. Sleep deprivation also raises inflammation and cortisol levels, and causes insulin resistance and weight gain, which are all risk factors for cancer. What's more, a whole series of detoxification process occurs when you sleep. If you don't sleep well, you will often feel horrible, and accumulated toxins don't get removed from your body but instead continue to damage your cells, causing yet another potential setup for cancer. Sleep medications can be very dangerous. If you have problems sleeping, try our 4 Sleep on www.perfectlyhealthy.com. All natural ingredients for a more restful night.

What's your favorite health tip?

Leigh Erin Connealy, M.D. 10.11.2020

We have to heal from head to toe. It's been said that "as a man thinks in his heart, so he is." I find this adage to be true with all my patients. When a patient believes in their heart that they can overcome cancer, it effects their entire body. Their fight is stronger, their mind is stronger, their body is stronger. Cancer is a disease of the entire body, not just a body part. A person doesn’t have a breast, ovarian, or colon cancer, for instance, because the disease doesn...’t only affect the breasts, or the ovaries, or the colon but the entire body. It isn’t just the tumor that needs to be treated, but all of you. A major part of this treatment is the process of resolving internal stress and emotional conflict. One way to achieve this is through positive affirmations. It may sound silly, but repeating to yourself positive affirmations can have the ability to strengthen your mind. There was a study on caregivers and the results showed after 4 years of follow-up, 103 participants (12.6%) died. After adjusting for sociodemographic factors, prevalent disease, and subclinical cardiovascular disease, participants who were providing care and experiencing caregiver strain had mortality risks that were 63% higher than noncaregiving controls. The study suggests that being a caregiver who is experiencing mental or emotional strain is an independent risk factor for mortality among elderly spousal caregivers. We have to care about our mind in the same way we care about our relationships, our diet, our weight, our jobs, our kids. The state of our mind is the state of our life.

What should you do right after chemo of tumor surgery? Check for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating stem cells (CSCs). That’s because we don’t want the cancer to come back. What are CTCs? A CTC is a cell that has shed from a primary tumor and is carried around the body in the blood circulation.... One of the reasons why the conventional approach to cancer often falls short is that surgery, chemotherapy and radiation can’t eliminate these CTCs and CSCs. You can find out where you have CTCS and CSCs in your blood by doing a blood test through the Research Genetic Cancer Center (RGCC), a laboratory in Greece that conducts blood tests to check for both CTC san CSCs. RGCC was officially established in 2004 and has over ten years of experience I working with doctors worldwide.

Numerous studies in leading oncology journals report that in many cancers, low-dose results are superior to standard dosing. When low-dose chemotherapy is administered on a daily schedule (known as metronomic because it is regular and even like the beat of a metronome) the continual death of endothelial cells attempting to form new blood vessels can substantially disrupt the angiogenic process, slowing it down notably. One of the merits of this metronomic approach centers ...around cancer drug resistance. Whereas conventional, high-dose chemotherapy tends to select tumor cells that are resistant to the drugs used, metronomic chemotherapy targets normal endothelial cells that do not grow resistant to the drugs. In other words, metronomic chemotherapy keeps on working when conventional therapy fails. Tumors may be able to adapt to a degree by increasing their production of pro-angiogenic factors that promote endothelial cells survival. This explains why cancers, which initially regress in response to metronomic therapy sometimes grow back despite continuing therapy. The cancer confers this relative resistance; not the endothelial cells themselves. The study provides patients with metronomic chemotherapy, an emerging new treatment option in cancer therapy, in which low doses of chemotherapeutic agents are given to patients at frequent intervals over longer periods of time. This targeted therapy can potentially improve the patients’ quality of life and allow for the prolonged administration of chemotherapy drugs. Chemotherapy has traditionally been administered at the maximum tolerated dose the highest possible dose that does not cause serious toxicity for the patient. But we have found low dose to be very effective!

Always so grateful to walk in and out of work. Do you know someone that has cancer? We want to treat them. ... One of our greatest tools we utilized is called the RGCC Greek Test. We use this test to know amount of circulating tumor cells in the body and the natural substances that can be effective in fighting the tumor cells. Did you know that circulating tumor cells and circulating stem cells result from metastatic cancer that caused 90% of all cancer deaths? Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs) are often overlooked in the cancer detection process because they are microscopic cells that are extremely difficult to detect. Cancer therapy should be targeting CTC/CSC’s to obtain remission-cure. We do a simple blood test and it's sent to an RGCC Lab in Greece where they research patient’s CTC/CSC's in their blood. It's exposed to 49 of the most commonly used chemotherapy drugs and natural products (herbs, minerals, etc.) separately to determine if the gene expression profile works. The results give our doctors a personalized protocol to reduce your cancer cells and create a preventative plan for you. Studies have found that in people with certain types of cancer of the breast, prostate, pancreas, colon, and skin the RGCC test is 87% sensitive and 83% specific for circulating tumor cells (Papasotiriou I. et al, 2015). This means that the RGCC test will correctly return a positive result 87% of the time, and will correctly return a negative result 83% of the time.

1. Normal sun exposure is needed for our cells! Not burns, just adequate sun exposure. 2. 5 small meals a day is not the definition of health. Not everyone should fast, but snacking all the time isn’t the answer either. 3. Meat is not the same as cigarettes. Meat has been consumed for thousands of year. How can we blame meat for our health problems? 4. Cholesterol is so misunderstood. ... Cholesterol is need for synthesis of vitamin D, cholesterol sulfate, and optimal hormones. The issues arise when cholesterol is oxidized. This can happen when there is high inflammation. 5. I haven’t had a sip of tap water in years. It’s sometimes even surprising to me when a patient comes in, looking normal and healthy. We run the PET scan, there’s cancer everywhere. We don’t know the kind of battle our fellow human is battling. e are our own entire world. Millions of thoughts, emotions, work issues, family issues running through life. Things seems crazier these days. All we can do is perfect ourselves. Bring ourselves to the best level we can be. ... There’s no time to be quarrelsome. Not a single moment of life is worth that. A few rules of eating I live by! I know there is a lot of dogmas out there on what to eat. But it's interesting, when you think about a wild animal. They don't need to be told what to eat. They instinctively know. And they eat what they like! I do the same thing. ... Malnutrition is overwhelming prevalent in the world. About 40% of adult Americans are obese. As doctors, we need to make nutrition part of every treatment conversation. One important thing on this list is to listen your body. Symptoms can be gifts! If a food doesn't work for you, eliminate it. Inflammation is real.

One way to test your body for chronic inflammation is with C-Reactive Protein. It tests for inflammation. Inflammation is the precursor for many illnesses. Most of my patients get this test done. Ideally the CRP level would be about 0.5. ... Why do CRP levels go up? Biohackers Fitness puts it simply: In the 21st century, we face toxins, stressors, and environmental factors in volumes we’ve never known before. When the body’s innate inflammatory response is triggered, not by a pathogen that can be fast eliminated, but by a chronic and ongoing stressor, CRP circulation becomes chronic. With CRP actively elevated, cytokines are called to act, and without resolve, that continued CRP elevation creates a literal cytokine storm. With time, the body’s innate protective mechanisms become confused, the body longs for a recovery state, and the inflammatory switch gets flicked . . . without any opportunity to go back to the off position. * Anxiety * Emotional stress * Physical stress * Blood sugar elevation * Lack of sleep * Ingestion of toxins How do we decrease CRP? First we have to look at lifestyle factors. Food, stress, sugar, sing light movement. Then there’s viruses, metals toxins. Without these factors optimized, CRP levels could go up. Get a good blood workk panel and doctor that’s not just looking to put a bandaid on the symptoms, but to dig a little deeper.

I have been seeing a lot of iodine deficiency in patients recently. What is iodine? A trace mineral needed to make thyroid hormones. Iodine deficiency is linked to goiter and hyperthyroidism. As the body's iodine levels fall, hypothyroidism may develop, since iodine is essential for making thyroid hormone. If a patient has swelling in the neck, I’ll definitely keep an eye on those iodine levels. ... Iodine comes from foods, but I also apply it topically. One thing with these foods is quality matters. The source matters. I am a big fan of local and organic. I know there are few good seaweed brands that focus on quality. Many patients, myself included, apply iodine to their skin. Quick, warning, it stains! I just take a few drops and rub it onto my skin. Usually the stomach. I have my own iodine on Perfectly Healthy. It will get on your towels, but if your deficient, it could be a good option :)

Cooking oil is something I use everyday, I don't mess around. Quality, quality, quality. The manufacturing process for vegetable oils involves pressing at high pressure, and extracting more oil using solvents such as hexane, a volatile hydrocarbon similar to gasoline. The oils are then refined by heating to a high temperature and adding sodium hydroxide (lye), and finally, degummed, bleached, and deodorized. In animal experiments it’s long been known that corn oil reliably i...ncreases cancer rates. For example, mice that were fed a diet high in corn oil had double the incidence of cancer. Dietary corn oil promotes tumors in rats by impeding apoptosis, or programmed cell suicide, in cancer cells. At restaurants, it's almost impossible to avoid vegetable oils. Everything is backwards!

Some interesting facts on glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is a brain tumor that affects the brain and the spine. The typical duration of survival following diagnosis is 12 to 15 months, with fewer than 3 to 7% of people surviving longer than five years. ... It most often begins around 64 years of age and occurs more commonly in males than females Common symptoms include seizures, headaches, nausea and vomiting, memory loss, changes to personality, mood or concentration, and localized neurological problems I currently have a few glioblastoma patients and we working on shirking tumor burden. Almost every patient I see now is deficient in Vitamin D. Vitamin D is necessary for our cells to function! Not only that but have you ever spent time in the sun and then have the most peaceful night's rest? We need sun for our circadian rhythms. Sun comes up, we get up. Sun goes down, we got to bed. There's some data showing sporadic sun exposure is not good. But regular sun exposure is fine. I personally don't wear sunscreen. I'm not out in the sun enough to wear sunscre...en. I see patients all day. I go outside in the morning, for walking meetings during lunch and when I get home. Excited for this weekend to relax, research, walk on the beach, and make dinner at home.
