One of our favorite solutions (recommendations) is in the news today. OpenDNS (www.opendns.com) is about to be bought up by Cisco. I highly recommend setting your home computers and router to get their DNS service from OpenDNS. It will help keep your computer from visiting compromised sites. Its not a guarantee, but it is certainly an improvement over "generic" DNS from your ISP. Also, on testing, the OpenDNS servers show excellent performance when we've tested them.

Stay updated on scams and Internet fraud. Malwarebytes.org makes a very useful product in the Malwarebytes removal tools, and their up-to-the-minute view of what's going on, scam-wise, is a great read. Use it to keep yourself informed of what the "bad guys" are up to so you don't get swept up in the problems they cause. Check it out: https://blog.malwarebytes.org/
