Faculty members in the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Optometry and Physical Therapy published the work of their randomized, controlled study examining the efficacy of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment and Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy in patients with vertigo and somatic dysfunction. In alignment with the spirit of WesternU, this study was interdisciplinary in nature and incorporated osteopathic medical students, a current second year osteopathic medical student and one who has graduated and is a family medicine resident. https://jaoa.org/article.aspx?articleid=2765332

The Department of Population Health at COMP would like to invite you to attend the viewing of a global health documentary - "Community Health Begins with Knowledge", on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, 11:00AM - 1:00PM via Zoom(https://westernu.zoom.us/s/97789450943). This documentary tells the compelling story of community health workers (CHWs) who provide a critical link between the medical community and populations in need of clinical services and disease prevention. The film is sh...ot is Kisumu Kenya and shows why and how CHWs are trained and how they save lives in their communities. WiRED International has released a rigorous and comprehensive, World Health Organization-compliant curriculum to train CHWs around the globe. It uses computer-based modules, taught in real-time by physicians and nurses. The 140-hour course covers health basics, patient assessment, clinical issues, health teaching and surveillance. CHWs enroll in WiRED's continuing health education program to remain current, increase their skills and retain their credentials. Thank you to Joe Marilo, Gary Wisser and Arlene Islas for the production, direction and cinematography of the documentary!
