Success isn't measured by the money in the bank so much as a joy-filled life. While it is a necessary tool to many things we desire and set goals for, it does not in itself sustain joy. I became a workaholic over 20 years ago and am continually trying to maintain my peace with life and spirit with moments like this. This article is definitely misleading. Waters protected by the Federal government have always had to be navigable until there was an over-reach and they brought in tributaries and then isolated water bodies. State waters are regulated by the SWRCB including the seasonal waterbodies mentioned here, so you can't just plow them in as this article discusses. In addition if a water body provides habitat it is also regulated by US Fish and Wildlife and or our local California Fish and Wildlife. Repealing the Rule lessons the amount of permit burden and ups the anti for States to manage their own resources, which is something that is extremely important. Don't let Ms. Sim fool you, cleaning up the millions of laws and streamlining how the regulations should read is a good thing, and wetlands and seasonal water bodies are still protected.

The result of excessive nutrient loads from agricultural runoff and sewage discharge, high summer temperatures, and particularly heavy spring rainfall, the annual overgrowth of cyanobacteria around the country is leaving everyone wondering where is it safe to go in the water. At least growing up with Jaws I knew, the fresh water was a good bet, but now it's anyone's guess. It's up to us to stop polluting our lakes, creeks and streams. Bats in the Belfry! Well Bridge rather. It is important to survey early BEFORE you get to construction stages. This project has a resident population of bats and while not State or Federally listed, they are protected and could cause significant delays to the project if mitigation isn't figured out before demolition. Bats are often said to be a Keystone species due to the multitude of benefits to the ecosystem, for example, bats eat billions of tons of insects every summer, just imagine, billions of tons! Bat populations are in a rapid decline, it is essential we use a common sense approach with our projects and have biologists working for the project that identify resources early to promote ecology while keeping the project schedule and costs reasonable.

It is such a bummer when you finally get to see an American Badger in the field after so many years, but he's road kill. Slow down people!

Would you believe we have been in business going on 12 years? It has been a long journey.
