Colusa Police Department

During the month of October and early November, CPD took several cases of stolen catalytic converters from various parts of Colusa. A local tire shop also reported items stolen from the business. Following up with community leads, CPD was able to identify a possible suspect, Jarrod Swicegood. The Colusa Police Department, Colusa County Sheriff's Office Task Force and the Marysville Police Department, served a search warrant at the 600 block of Aldridge Drive in Marysville, California. There they located Swicegood and several of the stolen catalytic converters and other items stolen from the local tire shop. Swicegood was booked into the Colusa County Jail.

On 11-09-20 at approximately 11:40 PM, CPD Officers were dispatched to the area of Webster St. and 1st St. for a burglary. The reporting party stated that their front door had been kicked in. Officers arrived and contacted the victim who was able to identify the suspect as Zachary Pomfret, who had left the area in a vehicle just prior to officers arrival. CPD continued to investigate the case and the Colusa County Sheriff's Office was able to locate Pomfret on a vehicle stop in the area of Hwy 20 and Sycamore Cutoff. Pomfret was placed under arrest and booked at the jail. CPD continued their investigation and executed search warrants in Meridian as well as several locations in Colusa in relation to this case.

In October we welcomed back Sara Martin full time when she was sworn in as our Police Lieutenant. Lieutenant Martin has been at the Colusa County District Attorney’s Office the last 5 years. Lieutenant Martin was also a reserve officer for our department at that time. Prior to her service at the DA’s Office, she served an an officer with the Colusa Police Department. Officer Darren Ram comes to us as a Colusa local. He recently graduated from the Sierra College Police and Yuba College Modular Police Academy and we are glad to have him.

We located Waldo while investigating a burglary alarm. He was cooperative and gave us a bunch of candy to hand out. Happy Halloween, stay safe!
